View Full Version : G21 Production Question.
What month/year did Glock begin producing G21s?
I've found one in excellent condition with a NDF hi-cap and what looks to be Trijicon night sights.
Are the early models any more valuable?
Do they need to go back to Glock to be updated?
Just wondering! Thanks!
G21's with two-letter serial numbers qualify for a free upgrade. No extra value for age.
Thanks Danny!
That's what I was looking for! It's an XA###.
"Glock 21 Pistols--Alphabetical Prefix up to and including XM.
G-21 .45 Automatic.
All Pistols prior to serial number ALD are subject to the slide modifications, i.e. the pickup rail is reduced and the right rear edge of the ejection port is angled."
Danny, is it worth the time and effort to send it in and have it done?
Thanks for the additional info.

I'm obviously not Danny, but I've had the G21 upgrade done. Yes, it's worth it. You also get the slide refinished free as part of the job. The G21 will look brand-new when it's returned to you. All you have to do is pay to get it to Glock/Smyrna. They pay return shipping.
Thanks Walter!
With this new information I am seriously considering purchasing the weapon and sending it to Glock for the upgrade. It's been sitting in the case for a long time now.
Once you shipped it to Glock how long did it take to get it back to you?

And exactly what does this modification/upgrade do for the pistol????

There were some extraction/ejection problems with some of the earlier G21's. The 15* breechcut and extractor supposedly corrected the problem. There was also a striker upgrade on the earlier G21's. Also, it's nice to pick up an old, worn G21 and have the slide refinished free.
