From yesterday's hike (http://www.pbase.com/image/109194260/original).

Weather cooperated, we only got a little hail with freezing rain during final descent.

Thanks! It seems the old SD1000 is still good for something. ;)

Out of curiosity, has anyone found a truly convenient camera bag for hiking (i.e. I already have a backpack on my back) that would accommodate one camera with a couple of lenses without getting in the way? (holster style bags look good, but get in the way real quick)

Assume hiking with poles (as in sticks, not the ethnicity ;)).

Based on you using a backpack, I'm thinking you might need a waist pack of sorts. Take a look at Lowe Pro as they make a few different models. Also Think Tank might have something to fit your needs, but TT is expensive.

Edited to add this one www.kgear.com - they also make some modular units that might work
