The Gold Grease on the new glocks is a typical lubricant used in the injection molding industry. Mostly used for it's heat resistance properties, the durability of the lube itself, water resistance and resistantance to reaction with the polymer material.
The the "gold" hue is realy cooper. You find it all over the injection molding industry.
My advice leave it on for the break in period. It is a very good lube in itself.
After breaking in clean it down as you normally would and then lube with your normal lubrication.
I spent 7 years in the injection molding industry and I have used this grease in many applications.
