The stock looks like refinished because it is free of blemishes however the retractable shoulder stock is original and so are the rest of the parts. The receiver is stamped, "SAGINAW SG".

JT,

Your carbine is made by the Saginaw Division of GM, hence the name Saginaw on the receiver. Those made by the Inland Division of GM (the most abundant M1/M2 Carbine), have Inland stamped on the receivers.

I think there are manufacturers in the US that make replacement full stocks as well as the side-folding stocks.
