I've been interested in the P250 since it came out during the last gunshow. It carries Sig's legendary reliability and comes in at a very reasonable price point. The DAO trigger is superb (rivaling the HK LEM trigger system) and ergonomics are perfect form my hands. It seemed to be the perfect EDC beater gun.

I'm glad I didn't buy too early.

Since then I've heard of 2 people experience or witness KB's on the 9mm variant. I know it's not good mojo to diss a gun based on 3rd hand information but what happened today was the kicker.

A friend of mine showed me his P250 asking me to help reinstall his extractor. He said it just flew off during his last range session. This was after a KB with factory ammo. The case just ruptured but the magazine stayed put so he thought the gun survived a case failure with no hitches. Usually the mag is demolished during a KB because of the extreme pressures emanating from the chamber. We got the extractor back in but upon closer inspection, I noticed that the frame was slightly bulging on both sides above the trigger area. As we took the gun apart yet again, we saw that the frame had actually cracked near the area where the serial number is located.

Previous reports state that the P250 chamber too loose for comfort. I dropped in a Golden Sabre 9mm and confirmed that statement. The bullet was rattling inside the chamber which means there is enough room to expand and rupture even for brand new factory ammo.

Could the P250's efforts toward reliability actually cause its downfall?

Pics to follow.

Just got me a second hand Sig P226. I wonder if the problem mentioned above applies to the P226.

No, the 226 is one of the best handguns out there, I was there with bikethief when the P250 was shown and disassembled, the chamber is very very loose, and the frame was cracked.

Thanks. That's very reassuring.

That's why I generally prefer firearms that already have a reputation after being years in the market, or at least have already been extensively tested and adopted by a prestigious security apparatus. Especially the models that have seen heavy use by government users Ex: The Beretta 92, SIG P226/228, Hk USP and P2000, CZ75, etc.

Hell no. The P250 is literally a whole different gun design.

Whew, thanks. It cost me only P18T and the finish is all gone (probably holster wear) but it looks as if it's got character.

just check the serial number and if it is made in west germany, there was a batch that was prone to cracked frames. saw it in the internet.

good thing i didn't jump at the opportunity of getting the sig 250, there was a storein GH selling at 38,000 last year, hope sig can fix the problem and this wont tarnish the sig name.:crying:

Here's a crappy phonepic of the damage. The crack doesn't seem to be in a critical area but it is STILL A CRACK. Plus, the extractor did fly off so something in there must have warped or broke. Remember guys, this is damage from standard pressure factory loads and the magazine was unaffected. If the mag catch is stronger than the frame and extractor then there's something very wrong with the design. I'm no engineer. But I know a KB when I see one. And I haven't seen a lot of 9mm KB's around here.

You may go to FED at Camp Crame and they have a rep there. There are no stocks for thetime being. According to Sheryl, we have to wait two months.
