because now I'm really ****ing pissed off.

They received my app Dec. 17th and have not started processing it yet.

They said when they do finally begin processing, it will be 3+ months.

So I'm probably looking at about 7 months total.

I know they're backed up, but it's ****ing bull**** that some people get theirs in 1-2 months and I have to wait 7 months.

Someone I took my CWP course with submitted her app right when I submitted mine, and got hers about 2 weeks ago. This is why I'm so angry...it really shows that they're completely unorganized with their heads up their asses.

They are trying to fix this problem.

http://cbs4.com/local/concealed.gun.permits.2.938845.html

The state has a backlog of 95,000 applications for concealed gun permits and will hire more people to handle the paperwork.

The increase may have been due to residents saying they're worried it may become harder to get a gun during the Obama administration. Others cite their wanting to be able to protect their families, especially in tough economic times.

In Tallahassee, a legislative panel gave the Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson permission on Wednesday to spend $3.9-million more so he can hire 61 temporary workers.

And did you both submit the same way?

My Class is on the 18th, Maybe I will get mine in 2010? I'm not planning on carrying on a regular basis, but I do need the gun in my car. What's the best way to have it in my car until I get my permit?

No, can't be - a government agency that is something other than neat and efficient?

I often carry mine in a snap-holster, in the center console. I have no worries about the legality. I too am getting a ccw soon, as I was stoopid and let mine expire.:faint:

Did the check you sent them clear yet? Thats usually the first thing they do when they open up your application. If your friend got hers a few weeks ago then I wouldnt be surprised if you got yours by the end of next month. I know they are backed up but 7 months seems too long since they just started hiring new workers and yours was sent over 3 months ago. Also, Ive heard that you should not call too often to check on the status because that means they have to pull yours from the stack of applications and then put it back on top of the pile. But wether or not that is true I dont know.

Wow...you actually got them to answer the phone.....that is amazing! When I tried to call all that happened was a fast busy. I finally gave up after about three days.
I mailed mine out on 02/06/09. It took 5 days for the PO to get it there...from Ocala to Tallahassee! They signed for it on 02/11/09. It took me 35 days from the date they signed for it to get the signed green card back in the mail. Don't let me get started on the Post Office!
I had heard at the time that I mailed mine that there were 95,000 applications there. They said that they were going to hire some extra help to process all those but I believe that said they were not going to hire them until April. All these people out of work and all those applications and they are waiting to hire help! Why????? I just checked my bank acct by phone and the $117.00 ck has not been cashed so there is no telling how long it will be. God forbid that someone that has an application up there is the victim of a crime while waiting on their CCW!

Well, go figure. My CWP came today, only 9 days later. Either that lady felt bad and processed my **** then and there, or those people really have their heads up their asses.

I spoke with them this week and they are now starting to work on apps from early Jan. So it sounds like they are catching up.

They don't pulls yours from a stack when you call. (95,000 in the stack) They just ask you your social # and if your already in they give you a round about date. If not they tell you it is not in the system yet. I am sure they are padding the time frame to make us happy when they come early.

Congrats on getting yours.

What took you so long to apply for the permit to begin with? Gun Stores and gun shows offer the class, all you have to do is send in the paperwork and some money.

I got mine about a year and a half ago with no problems. You waited to the last minute and a bunch of people panicked what do you expect?

That is so mighty thoughtful of them to provide $3.9 mil to add workers. Do the math, 95,000 x $117 is over $11 mil added to the state coffers.

Sent my app in on December 1st and they cashed my check on January 12 and I still don't have my license.

Hmm...FS 790 says they have 90 days to either issue or deny your permit unless there are issues the determination of your background check. I don't see where it says what happens if they fail to keep to the 90 day deadline.

I'm glad I got mine years ago, but I wonder if they're so backlogged, if they're falling behind on sending out renewals as well? What if your permit expires because they fail to renew it?
