I am thinking about picking one up for hunting on the ranch.

I don't really see the appeal of those vehicles. They're nearly as big as some pickups and nearly as expensive. A standard atv can haul just as much with a trailer.

The appeal for me is I sometimes take my father with me when I am hunting and he is not really up to being able to drive an ATV by himself, or being able to walk really long distances.

But your right, if you just need to haul gear and get around then an ATV will be better suited.

if you scroll down on the page you will see the gator utility vehicles. we had a bunch of them at the golfcourse i did greenskeeping at in high school. we had the 6x4 and the 4x2 type. all you would need is 4x2. these things were practically indestructable, we tried ;f, and with a little common sense, we were 17 and had little, you will never get stuck. great little machines.

to avoid sticker shock you might check with some of the local golf courses to see if they are looking to get rid of one. they are easy to fix and maintain and last a long long time. there was a 3 wheel gator there that was 15 years old. not the best machine but it got the job done.

Thanks for the info. I was unaware John Deere made anything but tractors and lawn mowers. I also check into the Kawasaki Mule (cause it had a diseal motor) but OMG that thing is LOUD.

I have had one of these (6x6). I have the windshield, soft top, and 6' snow plow with electric lift. I live in Minnesota and raise American Paint Horses and a 50 acre ranch.

My wife was not keen on the idea of getting this little jem, but it is now used almost daily and I would find it impossible to replace. The vehicle is indestructible. The main difference I found with this vehicle versus the JD Gator was the fact it has true 6 wheel drive and it has great suspension on all of those 6 wheels. It will also do 40+ miles per hour down good roads. I haul 12 hay bales in the dump box and have pulled a Chev. Metro out of a clay mud hole when it was buried up to the frame. Plows snow as good or better than a pickup with a mounted plow.

Can find nothing bad to say about the vehicle except it is larger than a 4-whlr. and you will not fit down trails as well if you like to trail ride. I have found that other atv riders like to have this vehicle with on trail rides so you can pull them out of the mud when they get stuck.

I vote get one.

IMHO, if you want one of those, get a Jeep. An old CJ2A or CJ3 is just about that size! :)
