...and what the heck is up with this weird rear sight?

The elevation screw is HUGE and moves with just a touch of my finger!

How do I make that thing stay put once I sight the gun in?

Thanks!

'bout time there was a new post here. That's the only thing I don't like about the civilian Mak's (the adj sight).

Loc Tite or teflon tape the screw. They are known for 'getting lost'.

You can purchase an aftermarket fixed sight to replace the problem IJ-70 adjustable sight. I've seen them and they look like they great. Here's the link:

They are available elswhere as well.

I have had mine for 11 years now and never had a problem...

My rear site has taken a lot of abuse with working the slide one handed against a wood table, on the heel of my boot, and hooking it on my front pocket. Have not had a problem yet.

I like mine a lot. I swaped out the rear sight for the fixed one linked in the post above.

Personally I like adjustable sights on guns, but some of the Mak sights I've seen had a lot of play. Just not very high quality workmanship.

I recently bought a 16th Mak, a NIB IJ70-18A. It's got a nice tight adjustable sight.

I took the spring out, shimmed the sight with washers to dial in elevation and loctited the screw in.
