Digged up my closet today & consolidated the parts that I have. Found three different extractors: one with a black, a blue & a red insert:

which of the three is the best? which one is the upgraded extractor?

Sir Winder9, went to the range to test my gun yesterday. Unfortunately the rifle bays were full, so I asked if I could just let off 10 rounds to test my gun after replacing the extractor spring. First nine rounds were ok. Last round fired, but failed to extract. notices that the follower of my mag seemed to have caught on the bolt. Even the bolt did not go all the way back. Could the mag have been the cause? Thanks in advance.

The current extractor insert/spring is black insert with the gold spring. The red one is the original M16A1 part, the blue is used to replace the red.

will you be able to see the o-ring or under sya sa spring? o-ring is placed outside the spring. if you cannot get an orig o-ring for extractor, you can use the o-ring for auto airconditioning parts.

Ya, use the black one, add the o-ring if you have extraction problems. If your gas is just right, there's no need for uber strong extractor springs.

Sir Saki, you mentioned O-Ring for aircon parts. Is there any specific size for this? Thanks

visited some shops here in our area & couldn't find an o-ring that would snugly fit around the spring

OK ba talaga to use an O-Ring? Will this actually increase the extractor's grip?

The o-ring will increase extractor tension, in a properly functioning system it is not needed. Too much or too liitle tension will cause problems.

Buna-N O-rings are better than regular O-rings. Much more oil and heat resistant.
