Just like to ask if anyone has bought a marlin 1894 lever action rifle from PBdionisio? I called them up last monday and asked about it and they told me that the rifle is at 64K for the 44 mag and 63K for the 357Mag.

This would be a nice Homedefense rifle. Any thoughts on this?

Ya, but for those prices, I'll build an AR or buy a pump shotgun for less than half that price...

They are in the Philippines and the currency is Pesos. PHP64,000.00 is USD1337.00. Still too much for a lever action rifle. I'll buy me a used AR, I heard they go down in price after election.

They must me dreaming of their prices. It would be nice if the 30-30 caliber would be widely available in the Philippines. Ballistics is almost similar to the 7.62x39. Hornady has the 30-30 in LEVERevolution, and the ballistics are impressive:

I would love to get a .357 mag lever gun. Too bad they priced it too high. Now if Norinco will release a decently priced .357 lever :whistling:

They do have a lever action .22 and a lever action shotgun. They also have copies of the trench gun.

If I'm not mistaken there are some elisco or old colt m16 that are still in the region of 30-40k (well make that end of last year)

Ask the BI boys, they will lead you to the right path.

ETA - Check the Buy and Sale Q2 2009 thread, someone is selling AR parts.

You can look at it that way- parang mahal nga. But compare the price to many pistols we have here, parang OK na rin- after all, you are getting a rifle. Still, they can sell more of these babies if they can slash the prices. I might consider one if it were just Php40K+.

I wonder if you can shoot 38 Specials on the 357Mag model.

I believe that you can shoot .38 Special on a .357 mag lever action.

.357 mag Marlins cost around $700.00 here. The 30-30s cost around $430.00. Much cheaper in the US.

Looks promising. How fast can the tubular magazine be reloaded when it is out of ammo?

You do not need to wait until you run out of ammo. You can start reloading if there's a lapse during shooting.

To answer the question much slower than loading a magazine but as long as you have ammo around you, you can always top it off.

Thanks for the clarification. I was able to find some videos on Youtube that showed how these babies work. Very nice. Looks like another piece to add to my wish list.

nice, i've been waiting for leverguns to be sold here, last time i checked i only saw .22 henry's at mcs, ( twin pines i think, with gold colored recievers)

though i prefer winchester model 92 clones( like puma or rossi) chambered in .38 special or .45 colt.

can't wait for norinco to clone the win model 92.

i didn't know 44 mag ammo was sold here in the Philippines.

i going to check those out in the next gun show. can't wait.

btw, you should keep your winchester 94 model, as that's a collectors item now, since winchester stopped producing those way back in 2006.

Is this really a "Law Enforcement" only gun? It says so in the PBD website, along with Turkish clones of the MP5 (MKEK made) and a stubby AR?

Could we own one of these?

Try getting in touch with Twin Pines. When I emailed Henry asking who their dealer is in the Philippines, they said it's Twin Pines.

I bought my son a Henry Mini Bolt before prices went up. Haven't got to try it, though.

Lever Action Rifles are supposed to be Ranch and Hunting Rifles. They can be used in law enforcement, though. Sayang, the .30-30 caliber should be available to the public.

Newcomer,

Would you be able to provide a link for their higher-caliber Marlin firearms? I checked their website, and the ones that showed up were .22 and .17 HMR calibers. Thanks!

if civilians can buy and own ak-47s and m-16s, i don't see why low powered leverguns would not be allowed.

leverguns are even slower to reload and shoot compared to modern semi-auto and full-auto rifles.

here are some links about leverguns:

apparently these mossberg guns are new, 2006 and after.
http://www.leverguns.com/leverguns/mossberg_464.htm

this is the winchester model 94, the most popular and supposed to be, the best when it comes to leverguns, stopped production in 2006.

and this is the one i want:

.45 colt ammo isn't available here in the Philippines.

a barrel length of 20 isn't bad, although 18 inch or 16 inch barrels would be better.

Great post guys....I am a big fan of lever guns. I have a Marlin 30-30 and a Henry 22 just like Isuzu's. I also have a single action Ruger Blackhawk in 357 mag. I hope to own a lever in 357 someday because I reload for that caliber..

For me, Marlin is currently the best lever gun out there. There are some that say Mossberg lever guns are quite loose. Henry lever guns are generally more expensive than Marlins, and they don't have a side loading gate that makes it convenient to load your rifle. You need to remove the loading tube on larger-caliber Henrys.

.45 Colt ammo is available in PB Dionisio. I've seen it. Although consistent supply is doubtful
