[I've emailed the moderators several times asking for permission to post this sort of thing - the forum rules say no, but I've seen others post similar. So, if I upset anyone, I apologize in advance.]
I am one of the instructors with Virginia Gun Safety, a group of NRA Instructors and Training Councilors that provide basic training to the general public and work extensively with the Boy Scout Community. Details of our next NRA Basic Pistol Class follow, in case anyone is interested, or knows anyone who might benefit from the course.
We will be offering an NRA Basic Pistol Course on May 2, 2009. Course is in two parts. Classroom part is Saturday (May 2), 9am to 5:00pm, at the Fairfax County Police Association Hall, 5625 Revercomb Court, Fairfax, VA (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=5625+Revercomb+Court,+Fairfax,+VA&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=36.778911,58.886719&ie=UTF8&ll=38.816656,-77.351217&spn=0.008844,0.014377&z=16). This part of the course includes all the classroom time, including the exam. The second part of the Course will be at Gilbert’s Small Arms Range, 8195-M Backlick Road, Lorton VA 22079 (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=8195-M+Backlick+Road,+Lorton+VA+22079&sll=38.816656,-77.351217&sspn=0.008844,0.014377&g=5625+Revercomb+Court,+Fairfax,+VA&ie=UTF8&ll=38.734787,-77.188976&spn=0.008854,0.014377&z=16). This part of the course includes all the range time. Detailed directions to Gilbert’s will be provided on Saturday if needed. Due to current weekend congestion at Gilbert’s, range time will be scheduled for weekday evenings or weekends as students can schedule. We know this is an added inconvenience for you, but it is currently the best way to get everyone on the range and get the most from us and the course.
Both sessions of the course must be attended in order to complete the course.
No live ammunition will be allowed in the classroom on Saturday, or at Gilbert’s until we are on the range.
All equipment (gun, ammunition, safety equipment, etc.) and student text
will be provided. Bring paper, pen, highlighter(s) as necessary. If you have a firearm and would like to learn how to use it, please feel free to bring it. Please note make, model, and caliber in the course registration.
Saturday will include a half-hour break for lunch. Lunch is provided (you can see the menu here (http://www.vagunsafety.com/graphics/lunch_menu.pdf)). Make your lunch selection when you register. Orders will be verified in the morning in case you change your mind.
Cost of the course is $130. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your space in the course. Payment information will be displayed once you complete the registration form. Space is limited, so register early. If you have any questions, please use the Contact page or email us directly at registration@vagunsafety.com.
