Finnde,
I know it's comforting to find a round that approximates the power of your S&W. However, to achieve those ballistics, you have to use a necked case, something that pistols are really not that economical to have. Check the price on .357 Sig. Isn't cheap, is it? Nope. Actually, the better bang for the buck is in the .40S&W, of the two (.357Sig and .40S&W). Personally, I'd go for the .40S&W, simply because it's been proving itself since it's introduction to police forces world wide, as well as with military units, like the Australian Army. It's been rumored that the next generation service pistol for the United States military will be the .40S&W. I prefer the .45acp, and have a G21 and G30, both modified to suit my purposes. However, for the average person, it is ALMOST as good as a .45acp, and it does have 50% more power than the ancient 9mm. Try it, you'll like it, and not have a caliber that is going to take a long time to earn it's spurs... Hope this has been of help...
Carter, out...
P.S. The .357Sig fits a niche that doesn't exist. Properly loaded, the .40S&W is far and away the better cartridge. You are correct, the .357Sig does have the potential to overpenetrate. However, the designers of the cartridge need that velocity to assure a higher probability of bullet expansion. That argument is now moot, with bullet designs like Corbon's Pow'RBall, which in .40S&W expands to nearly .90 caliber... It is also moot with the advent of Federal's new EFMJ (Expanding Full Metal Jacket). Both bullets feed like FMJ's, are not dependent upon the old-fashioned hollowpoint, and expand upon striking flesh. They also penetrate barriers, barricades, car bodies, and windshields... You get my drift? Properly loaded, the .40S&W can defeat most targets/BG's. Why pay for possible performance, with unnecessary recoil, flash, and accrued pain? Stick with a nice, balanced, perfectly designed GLOCK in .40S&W, like the G35, or one of its bretheren...
GLOCK ON... cfl
Well you sold me! Thank you for your insight, knowledge and explanation, GLOCK21_30Man. Your information above was the answer and/or reassurance I was looking for.
Thanks again.
