I am semi active in local VFW as I am always seeking donation of cloths, books, games at garage sales, items that don't sell. Then the VFW takes em to the VA, and Am Vets.

The Scout Sniper Association because it allows me to keep in touch with friends, DAV because someone gave me a life membership after I was wounded and the VFW because it’s active in the local community both in charity and local politics.

Howdy,

I did use the VFW.

I dumped them during the '06 election when they backed a non-Veteran that was anti-Veteran over a disabled Veteran that was pro Veteran in an Ohio election.

The Veteran had lost both legs in the Gulf and the non-Vet had used his families money and political connections to buy a deferment during 'Nam.

I was very disappointed w/ the VFW.

None of the above.

Never thought to join one. That part of my life was over and I was working on a new part.

Was a Service Officer with the American Legion till had a falling out with the drunken Post Commander and booked, I got a lot out of it from helping fellow Vet's. I am still a life member with the DAV, they fought for me and helped get my VA Comp Rating but not active other than giving donations so they can continue to help those that need it.

Recently joined my local VFW. Looking forward to doing good things in the community and helping out any way I can... Like anything else in life- You get out of it what you put into it.

National Infantry Association
-Very big in my Battalion since there are only 4 Infantry Companies in the state (not including HHC's and 20th Group). Each year we host a symposium with the latest greatest gouchie gear, induct soldiers into the Order of St. Maurice etc, lots of alcohol.

National Guard Officer Association
-Lobbies for the National Guard, Life Insurance benefits w/no combat exclusion clause, lots of alcohol at annual function.

For the record, I'm not a big drinker, but I like to watch everyone else make an ass of themselves.

American Legion and soon to be a member of the Disabled American Veterans. I'm not really active with the Legion other than continuing to pay my yearly dues.

AMVETS because our post was named for my nephew who was killed in Korea in 1989.
VFW because I earned it.
Berlin Vets because I was at C P Charlie during a very historical moment.

American Legion. I used to be an active member but had a falling out with a few guys. Now inactive but pay my dues. I hope the dues is going to help out with veterans affairs and not some lobby greasing senators/representatives.

VFW - Life member; we have nice chapter here that does a lot, even though there is a lot of "political crap" within its doors. I try to help, but time is hard.

DAV - Life member; because they help a lot of vets to get their just fruits when the VA Beauracracy is hell bent on taking it from them. They sure helped me. I donate a lot to them, and participate when I can.

American Legion; because when I first moved here they had the best organization in the area. They sold their building, and let politics get in the way of who they were. They're almost extinct now. I still belong as a member "a large".

Air Force Sergeants Association - Life member: Joined as a life member when I was still on active duty. Don't have a local chapter anywhere near me.

There are numerous others that I could join, but don't. If you join to many organizations, you end up with no life, and, a lousy member of most, if not all, of the organizations of which you are a member.
