View Full Version : Which one (Belgian, Hungarian or Argentinian) ralph19768 05-19-2009, 18:30 If the three guns cost the same. which of those would you pick? bac1023 05-19-2009, 19:48 Belgian. I wouldn't think twice. ...in fact, I wouldn't think once. The FN/Browning HP is the real deal. I can't say that for the other two. gp35fn 05-19-2009, 20:36 FN Belgium- the origional, always first choice. FM Argentine, from 1969-1989 they were licensed to make HPs by FN, have several all excellent HPs-but usually you can get a FM for 1/3 to 1/2 the price of an FN-so same price FN still over the the FM. FEG Hungarian, unlicensed copy of the HP-no technical support from FN (which FMs do have)-at half the price of a FN the FEG isn't worth it. Bret 06-14-2009, 09:19 The answer to your question is the Belgian one. However, the value of the others is what keeps them in the game. You can have a pistol that is very similar to a Belgian Hipower for significantly less. Also, keep in mind that not all Browning Hipowers are Belgian. My 40S&W was made in Belgium but assembled in Portugal. There's also another clone that is available these days which is made by Arcus of Bulgaria. It has a DA/SA trigger. Here's a picture of the compact version. http://www.arcus-bg.com/images/products/firearms/arcus_98dacn.jpg bac1023 06-18-2009, 17:27 Gotta love the HP. :hearts: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n5/bac1023/000_1736.jpg LarryNC 06-26-2009, 21:48 Mine is all Belgian and does not say Browning on it anywhere. It simply says FN and made in Belgium. Does anyone here have any idea what a Mark III, made by FN, and less than ~300 rds. should sell for? I have had some work done to mine. I had the Cylinder & Slide Trigger, hammer and Sear installed. natpro7420 06-29-2009, 08:13 Belgium is the only way to go the peak of fit and finish and the made in Belgium assembled in Portugal are excellent shooters with improved feed ramps and ejection ports plus the cast frames are made of harder steel than the older forged ones. The older ones sure are purty though. Ghost Tracker 07-04-2009, 08:24 Is this a trick-question? BELGIAN! When Browning/FN Hi-Powers start costing the same as FM or FEG offerings...someone PM me quickly. It's like asking "if Porsches and Kias costs the same, which would you pick?" bac1023 07-04-2009, 18:58 Is this a trick-question? BELGIAN! Yeah, the question didn't make a whole lot of sense. :dunno: If the price was the same, why in the world would anyone buy anything other than an FN? vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
