I wanted to start a new thread and thank everyone for your support! You guys and gals have been great!
I also wanted to let everyone know about my new website www.barberleatherworks.com (http://www.barberleatherworks.com/) and that I am doing a lot more than just the Glock 19 and Glock 30 holsters. Under my products page you will find all of the models I currently have moulds for.
I am also now a dealer for FAST holsters.
These FAST holsters are the best thing since sliced bread! I use them myself and they are so great that I decided to become a dealer and offer them on my website. Whenever my gun isn’t in my Barber Leather Works holster it is on my FAST holster close at hand!

Thanks again to everyone and Im looking forward to making YOU a holster!

I had Eric make me a IWB holster for my 5 inch 1911. After wearing it for a while I can say that it is as good a holster as some I have had costing twice as much.

Eric was very helpful and the holster arrived quickly. It is comfortable to wear all day, sits well on the belt without shifting, is made extremely well, and looks good to boot.

If you're in the market for gunleather you can't go wrong with Eric. I'll be buying from him again.

Eric,
The triangular piece sewn onto the top..Is that to reinforce the opening?

Hello ragu1macrider,
Yes it aids in keeping it open. It will still collapse a bit but it stays open enough to reholster the weapon.
If you have any more questions let me know!

Thanks,

Thanks Eric my right hand holster for my glock 23 was delivered as promised. I just want to say that I have quite a collection of high dollar holsters! Not to take anything from any of the other great holster makers but your holsters rank with the best. My holster fit like a glove with no break in period involved. I would not have any problems recommending you to any Glock member or anyone one else for that matter. I wish you great success you have a made customer for life!!

Please bear with me on my pics as I am no professional photographer

heres a light brown one. These are really hard to do because of the darker colors I work with. All of my tools, wheels burnishers etc have the darker colors embedded in them. I may have to make some separate tools just to do this lighter brown because no matter how hard Ive tried I cant seem to keep the darker color from transferring in places when I am molding and burnishing them. I think it still looks neat though.

A few pictures of the curve I mold into my holsters

http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss4/barberleatherworks/smallIMG_3805.jpg

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p>My holsters will hug you right out of the box and only gets better with time. Notice the smooth edges, It takes alot of time to produce edges like this. I have made holsters with a flat back but I have found that if you dont split the guns thickness it seems to bubble the belt out more on the outside and compromises concealability. Ive found that it is still comfortable and your body absorbs some of the guns thickness.

Hi Mike,
This one is 2 layers of 6/7 oz veg tanned tight grained strap hide with the flesh sides glued and stitched together with the smooth side out both sides. I dont believe there is going to be a need for an extra stiffener as it supports my Glock 30 great so far.

The Aker I had been wearing was ok but wasnt really doing it for me. It had the thinner cheaper looking leather (probably chrome tanned leather) with what felt like a plastic stiffener. It felt kind of cheap and didnt support as well as I thought it should so I thought id try my own and see how it works out. So far so great!
Ive been wearing it for a while now and it really supports well. Id like to wear it for a while longer before I offer them.

Im not sure on price yet. I havent thought to much about it so far. I cut this one by hand with a straight edge and I havent gotten into the buckles to much yet. The buckle and keeper on the test dummy:supergrin: are off of my old Aker gunbelt. If you are interested, when I feel comfortable with it I can let you know.

Thanks!
Eric

Thanks you guys! Im glad you like them I appreciate the support!

Also had another member asking about the fast holsters. I snapped a few shots of a couple of mine today so I figured id post them up on here too.

Its is 3 permanent magnets over molded in poly-urethane plastic it is very secure and non marring.

Im telling you these things are really great. I used to just lay my pistols up on the shelves when I was going to be in one spot for a while but now I put them on my fast holsters. Out of sight and out of mind. I dont recommend them if you have little ones running around. We dont have any and my dog dosent have any thumbs so we are good there:supergrin:

Hi,
It all depends on where you wear them on your belt. I wear the 30 degree myself at about 3:15-3:30 It works well for me. I can make them in any cant you like but I myself prefer the 30 degree. It seems to hide alot better for me and you can wear it while driving without the butt pushing against the seat.

Eric

ebarber
06-18-2009, 20:12
Also with the 30 degree you can make the holster ride deeper because you can get your fingers in between the grip and the holster easier. The less the cant the higher the gun has to ride out of your belt.

Hi Mike
I just looked one up and it looks interesting. The one that I saw looks like there is a hidden loop behind the holster and a pancake style slot on the trigger side with a 10 or 15 degree reverse cant. Do you have a pic of the style you have in mind? I dont think it would be a problem and I would like to give one a try if youd want to try one.

Hi Tom!
How have you been? I dont think these will need the pre-curve. They are thick and stiff enough to support but not so thick and stiff that they feel like a hoola hoop. My test dummy was comfortable from the start and is taking to my shape well while still offering the support I need. Ill put you on my list too and let you know when I start offering them. Shouldnt be much longer.

Eric I did want to ask you do you think the fast holster mounted under the dash of a pickup truck would hold a G-26 up without falling? I have been looking at them on your website.

Yes it would be fine for that with a Glock. With the Glocks Squarish slide it makes a nice strong contact and will stick fine while driving. A revolver might not stay while driving though because of the irregular surface. My snubbie sticks fine in my work trailer while stationary but I dont know if it would work going down the road. I usually park my piece on that one when Im on the job site when I cant IWB with a tool belt on:supergrin:
They do make one with a little strap on it for vehicle use. With Ohio law it has to be "in" a holster. I think there are other states similar hence the little useless strap to make it legal.

Yes sir glad to hear it! I got yours molded up last night and Ill ship it out for you Monday so you wont have to be swapping it back and forth:cool:. My wife and I went driving today up around amish country. We drove all around through Millersburg, Berlin, Charm and just all around the outskirts enjoying the countryside. 8 hrs in the car plus probably 2 hrs walking around in the shops:whistling: cargos and sandals. Just took it of when I got home. Felt great.

The only trouble I used to have was the mag release digging into me a little while driving but I smoothed the edges of it down ever so slightly a while back. I left enough of the grip on the surface and now It dosent bother me at all. It was just the sharp corners on the release.

I would love to but unfortunately the way I mold the holsters I would either have to have some sort of a dummy light to mount to my dummy molds or a real one. I dont know if a real one would hold up to the molding very long over and over again. Maybe one of these days I can get something figured out on doing something like that.

Got my holster for the 19. This holster is very nice. Top quality leather, and the pistol fits nice and snug. I wore it around the house and it was quite comfortable. I was just wearing a T shirt and no one could tell.

To those who haven't purchased yet, just buy one already. The holster is worth alot more than what he is offering at. Plus Eric is a real nice guy to deal with

Thanks Eric I just received my IWB holster for my G27 very nice craftsmenship. I really like how strong the trigger guard on it is. It keeps me from worrying if I have to grab the G27 quickly so I don't have an A.D by grabbing the trigger.

Also wanted to thank you for the fast reliable service and the recommendations you came up with to fit my personal needs with the holster.

I also bought the FAST Magnet Application to put underneath a wooden stool/night stand next to my bed for very quick acess. Instead of leaving it sitting on top of the night stand for everyone to see. This is a great product that keeps it hidden/out of sight but ready to use just as quick.

I highly recomend this FAST application. I might get another to keep my other gun under my desk. The FAST concept allows me to have very quick access to my firearms by keep it under night stand and out of view as stated earlier.

Hello Eric. I recently purchased a G21SF, because none of the stores around me had any G23s in stock and didn't know when they would get more. I was originally planning on buying a Crossbreed but after I saw your holsters on GT, I like yours a lot better. The craftsmenship of your holsters look a lot better and more comfortable.

I have one question and it maybe a stupid one. If I get one of your holsters for a G21SF; would a G23 fit in it? My understanding is that the crossbreed fits both. I plan on either trading in or purchasing a G23 because they seem easier to conceal.

ebarber

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the kind words! I just tried a 21 in a stock 23 holster and the barrel is longer so the trigger wasnt covered by about about a 1/2 inch before it bottomed out in the end. So I think it would probably work vice versa but you would have a little bit of dead space at the muzzle end. To be honest though I wouldnt really suggest it. I could make one a little shorter so the muzzle would stick out on your 21 allowing it to go clear through the end of the holster. But I like to actually shape the end of the holster to slightly wrap around the muzzle. This allows for a smooth rounded end on the holster for comfort while still remaining open so debris will fall through.
So I guess bottom line....I could make it work for you but to be honest I dont think I would do it if I were you. Sorry my friend but keep me in mind in the future:wavey:

Thanks,
Eric

Eric made me a slightly different version of this particular holster in the photo to fit my needs perfectly.

He just basically did away with both sides the holster where the belt would go through and added a single strong clip and I was only going to use it to transfer it to and from car through out the day cause I can't have it at work.

But come to find out it turned out to be a beautiful extremely comfortable IWB holster to wear often as I can and even wear it with athletic gym shorts with no belt.

I also own His FAST magnet application. It is great. I have my Glock under this old woden stand near my bed that would be the last place anyone would think a gun would be. FAST access. No pun intended.

Now he is working on a holster for me that is going to include a place for a spare mag directly next to holster itself. Nice and compact.

I just can't or don't have the time nor want to holster up everytime I leave my house and this new holster coming and the other one is so easy to use. Highly recommend you give Eric a shot.

Hey Small Tony, Ill get started on the other one as soon as I get the mag which should be any day now. It wont take me long to do it.

The other one you have is a pocket holster for a g27 with a reinforcement piece of leather around the mouth and an Iwb clip on the outside so it doubles as a pocket or an IWB. I have one I made for my airweight S&W revolver. I love it...it kinda spoils me though. If I find myself going for a quick errand I usually grab that and throw it in my waistband.

Do the metal clips allow the holster to sit deeper inside your pants? do you have any pictures of the holster with the loops and the clips being worn? I'd like to see how the gun rides in each:supergrin: thank you!

I haven't made any with shark as of yet but I would like to. I think after I get caught up I will order some and make myself a shark belt and an OWB with some shark on it....that is unless someone wants some shark before I get around to getting some for myself:cool:

Some people just prefer the loops as opposed to the clips. Loops require a little more of a "break in" period. Because they need to stay tight on the belt you usually have to thread the belt through the loops for a few times and wear it for a while that way so they stretch and loosen up a bit. All of my regular carries are the clips but I am going to make myself one with loops just to see which one I like better.
I think that if you have a dress belt and or an exotic that you want to keep pristine you would probably want the loops.

Excuse my pics...they were in the mirror and my wife wasn't here to take them for me:supergrin:

Here are the clips

Thanks for the pics. It seems like maybe the one with the clips sets a little deeper inside the waisteband. I think you are right that the clips may scratch up a good leather belt. What is your turn around times like right now?

No problem my friend!
Yes in this case it does ride a slight bit higher but I can make it ride deeper. The guy im making this one for shoots alot of IDPA and likes to use real world CC holsters. I figured this one with a slightly higher ride might get him a little better grip. I wanted to try this one out on him to see what he says. This is his 3rd or 4th one I have made for him.

I am running about 2 to 3 weeks right now. I was almost caught up but im behind again...I havent quite gotten totally caught up in a while:supergrin:

WOW! Ha I am getting pretty busy now but I could still use some more work if Im going to do it full time. I hope not to get that strung out though and I want to make sure I still keep my quality up. I plan on buying some more equipment after I get caught up from what I have already bought. The new equipment im wanting will make a few things easier and faster that I am now doing by hand. I have been really hitting it hard since I started making them, trying to get caught up and keeping a few on hand for quick shipment. This is the first weekend I have taken off...well if you dont count the 5 I molded today but that didnt take very long.
Thank you for the contact. I will get in touch with him. I enjoy talking to other holstermakers they are a wealth of information and just all around cool people. I look forward to making a holster for you soon just let me know when. Thank you!

haha thanks my friend! Ill be here when you are ready. I get better with every one and learn more. Im really comfortable with this design now and a little faster with it. Im still drawing everything out and hand cutting everything with a hook knife so I can make little tweaks here and there so I can do what ever the customer requests. As long as the trigger on the Glock is covered you wont have a problem. Some people like a little room for your finger to tuck under the guard when getting a grip. Some people like the guard completely covered its all personal taste. I do about 50 50 probably. My personal one is about 2/3 to 3/4 covered.

Guys, my wife and I just got back from seeing Eric. This guy is patient, very detailed and takes PRIDE in all his work. His craftsmanship far exceeds anything I've ever seen. Lets put it this way. I went over knowing I have one holster coming and left with ordering 3 more along with mag holders. And pictures just don't do his work any justice. You HAVE to go see them in person or at least buy his products KNOWING you are getting a great product and quality work that you can put up to anyone that says they have something better.

Eric I'm sure I'm not done ordering from you...I have a FS that is calling for a holster, just waiting to see if I'm getting the laser grips for it..lol. My wife agrees with everything I've said and all of you know that if your wife likes it then it's a done deal. Thanks again my friend.

Very nice. How much extra is the shark option?

It all depends on how much shark is required. Some guys are wanting the full front in shark some just the triangular accent with the clips some accent with the loops also.
BTW I got your Micro DE done. Turned out really nice! Im going to email you a pic of it shortly;). It will go out the first of next week.

Well as much as I love my G30 I was starting to question if this brick was a good choice for a carry but now that my Eric Barber Leather works wardrobe is complete I believe I made the right choice. Eric's IWB and OWB holsters and belt have transformed this weapon to a very easy everyday carry which is no easy feat. I just want to thank him again for his quality craftsmanship.

Double stitched black cherry belt with a shark tip and a real 12guage shotgun shell end. This customer is a machinist and machined down this end for me to attach on his keeper. Turned out pretty neat. He also made one for me so I had to make myself one just like it.

Eric,

I really want to thank you for the holster and mag pouch. It arrived yesterday, as scheduled, and looks terrific. I am trying to plan my weekend just to be out to were it, see how it feels and to show it off. I'm telling you, if it's anything like the IWB I'm not going to be wearing any other holster for awhile. Until this weekend I will be wearing around the house when I can.

I have loved the IWB since I got it but this just might put it on the back burner for some time. As always your craftsmanship and hard work is unreal, I have always recommended you and will continue. After this last holster I just might answer every thread talking about which holster to get just to show a picture of your products.

Thank you very much for sending my mag pouches. Dude you have unreal quality.
