I'm about to bite the bullet and purchase my first Class III item soon, probably a suppressed Ruger .22.

I've asked my local city Police Chief and he does not sign Class III forms for anyone apparently.

I'm unable to kiss ass, so I'm writing off my chances of getting a LEO to sign off for me.

Could someone give me the scoop on forming a corporation in order to avoid having to go through the hassle of getting the LEO sign-off? I'm planning to give my attorney a call on Monday and I would like to be able to intelligently explain to him what I want to accomplish.

Thanks!

I bypassed the Chief....went right to the Sheriff!! He is still the second most powerful official in the county ...The Judge is the first of course ;a

In D/FW area, only Tarrant County signs without question. No problem, though, because the Corporate route is better anyway. First, start by perusing this web site:

http://www.sos.state.tx.us/corp/for.../word/llc.shtml

Then, should you choose to create an LLC, have $200 in your checkbook, and fill out this form and send it in.

http://www.sos.state.tx.us/corp/forms/205.doc

Your Articles of Organization will come back in two weeks, and you are good to go. Make several copies, as most dealers will want to keep a copy on file.

If you have any questions, send me PM/E-Mail and we can hook up by phone. It is NOT a difficult process. You may want to join the forum www.texas-shooters.com. Lots of D/FW folk, many do Class III, and they have a site where they can shoot locally.

As for the weapon, who/what are you looking at AWC? AAC? Gem-Tech? John's Guns? For convenience, it helps if the weapon is already in Texas, that is one less form and one less 30-60 day wait to get it into Texas. Cheaper Than Dirt (in Fort Worth) has 2 Ruger Mark II SS in stock, but they were a little pricey ($1099). Hope this helps.
