Ok, that's a mouthful for a name, I'm not sure if the 'Tactical' should be included...anyway, got this last Friday afternoon after consulting with vega via phone. (t.y. pala kay vega for his time talking to me while researching for me online) As you guys know, Cali is not a free state and as such, we have to make sure guns we intend to acquire has to be in the approved list. After listening to vega's wisdom on this item, I have to rush back to my local store and lo and behold, it was the last one of the 3 on display earlier that morning. In less than half an hour, I was heading back home with the rifle in the back seat with a little over $700 dent on my card.

Anyway, its a .22 cal and looks and feel like the real AR-15 even the weight (well, almost). I guess itís an attempt to grab some shares away from the GSG-5 which are selling like hot cakes. Both guns are made in Germany although mine was made by Carl Walther with an agreement from the Colt brand. By the looks of it, the upper or the lower cannot be mated with the real AR-15. I tried to take it apart but when the bolt catch lever fell off, I know its not a functioning part and later found out its noted on the manual. Pa-epek lang...

If any Cali-based BOGs chime in and confirm I can bring in this toy to the state, I can save myself sending a letter to DOJ.

I know, i know, pics are mandatory...so heto na:

Nice! Though they could have shortened the mag to the length of a regular AR 30-rounder, it looks like a 40-rounder:supergrin:. And do you have to rotate the safety 180 degrees?

And is that really a pin above the selector or was it put there to look like it has an auto sear?

Ah, a real must-have...

VICARA

yes, the safety's 'Safe' and 'Fire' marker is 180 degress apart. when I checked the internals, I did not noticed that pin but I'm almost positive its not a real one. I got scared when the bolt catch dropped and to be honest, it feels like a plastic...magaan eh.
and its there just for the looks but the rest, full metal body daw...

go for it CM...sooner than later, it will show up in your neighborhood gun store or maybe they have them already? My local store started carrying them 2 weeks ago.

with ammo pricing going thru the roof and the supply is still pretty dry, this might be a good alternative to the real thing. I guess better than ersop.

VICARA - If that is a dedicated 22LR and cannot be interchange with the real deal then you are good to go here in CA. It's like having a GSG5 which is Cali legal. Markings are clear, Carbine 22LR and not AR15. You can have all the evil features on 22LR except more than 10 rounders.

Nice rifle! I'm sure when it hits CA the price will double. Let us know how it shoots.

Just saw one today at a gun store. Looked nice from a distance. Price $589 +/-.

yup, i'll carry it back on my next trip but i better get me this first.

besides, the 30-rounder looks funny.
i'm not sure price will spike now that long guns are starting to pop up everywhere. 2 gun stores i visited in vegas appear to look like pre-BHO days. lots of AR/AK in stock. I saw a complete RRA for $1,100, Colt is around $1,500 but fully loaded LaRue/Noveske/LMT and the likes are still in the 3Ks.

Ammos are a diff story!

vega: I asked them guys about getting just the upper but they carry only complete rifles. I think you better off getting it online.

Hey VICARA, any range report yet? I got a dedicated TacSol upper on top of my Roggio Arsenal lower. Being 22LR I can use the regular mag release.

No, lower cannot accept 5.56 upper.

that's the one of the units sold at the gunshow, 58K

kontra

No, lower cannot accept 5.56 upper.

thanks. i meant, the same everything, except the length of the barrel. if it can be shortened like the infant but still using .22LR ammo

vega
11-16-2009, 17:23
Sure you can shorten the barrel but if you will do that why not buy the GSG5 22 LR?

hey guys its been a while... got promoted on my job and its been 'toxic' from day one.
yup, I finally got it to CA on my last trip to my home city but has yet to
visit the range. my buddy's grip for his .45 should come in any day now so a weekend trip to Metcalf is already planned.

anyway, i attended a refresher training while in vegas as a requirement for my ccw renewal and it was an eye opener. It made me realized even after 9 years of packing, I still have a lot to learn. My instructor is from the old school, a retired gentlemen from the service with a mile of credentials and of all the speakers I heard all these years, I guess he is the most that I listened to. Total immersion during the class, if you know what i mean.

The bad part is I have to go back to file my application as they now require proof of US citizenship even for renewals. di ko nadala passport ko. :steamed: 5 yrs ago, they did not need to see. The good thing is I got to shoot my non-neutered AR-15 (30-rounder and a real mag release)

Range report na lang next week but I will post a pic of my Colt 22 with a 10-rounder and my 'ACOG Trijicon':embarassed:

vega, patingin Tacsol mo. kumusta accuracy niya?

for US-based BOGs: Tip naman where to pick up bulk .22LRs. Wallyworld is hopeless so another local store might be a good bet. Or online store if still OK in CA.

thanks.

I tried Walmart and Big 5 but both of them are dry. You can still order online. Cabela have a promo on 22LRs.

I haven't shoot my TacSol yet, maybe next week when my brother arrives para isang biyahe na lang.

thanks guys, I will hit Cabelas and Natches at home. block dito sa office eh.

vega, hindi ba parang cumbersome yung setup mo?
When you mate your lower with the Tacsol, you replace the mag release with the real thing. Then re-install your BB in a real AR-15 mode.

Except if you are using a Prince50 Mag-Lock Kit or FreeLock Mini Kit from Riflegear. Couple of turns and you can shift at will from CA-compliant mag release to a real push button.

Ang gulo rito sa Cali ano? kakainis! :steamed:

VICARA - This is dedicated 22 upper and lower. No 5.56 upper will go with this lower as long as I have the 22LR upper.

VICARA

roger that. and I like what I saw from Tactical Solutions...mas maganda pa 'ata sa Umarex.
so kumusta ang ammo supply natin? I was browsing Cabelas and came accross this. Tutuo ba 'to?

Remington for 19.99? (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?type=product&cmCat=Related_IPL_217105&id=0063627212176a)

I use that ammo for my BOLT actions. TacSol specifically advised against using that ammo. It does not feed reliably. I don't know about Umarex Colt. You might want to do some research.

Hey Vic - Want to get another Trijicon TR21? My friend is selling his for $425.

VICARA
11-21-2009, 00:18
pass muna ako sa Trijicon. broke ang bayan! :embarassed:

If ever we get the year-end bonus, and assuming I can 'embezzle' (parang corrupt politician ang gimmick) I might pick up another upper for my Noveske, maybe a 20" or 24" freefloat. And it will not be topped with a pricey Trijicon for sure. Nikon, Leupold, Bushnell seems more likely. Tagal ko na pangarap yan.

If its not too chilly/windy tomorrow, we'll hit the local range, 'di pa naka-zero 'to. Its drizzling most of the afternoon today, so...anyway heto siya the 'most lethal' .22LR equipped with a 10-round mag.

'finally get to shoot my dedicated 22LR

Make: TacSol M4

Round count: @ 400 rds Federal Bulk Pack

Malfunctions: Probably at around 250 rds it does not have enough power to reset the trigger but it would feed the next round. So a reduced JP power spring is needed, hopefully that would fix it. But at around 350 rds I started getting 2 burst auto-fire but it would not reset the trigger on the 3rd round. It was fun at first but I don't want to get in trouble so I removed the bolt and pack up.

When I cleaned the bolt there was no gunk to bind the firing pin, we'll see what happens next session.

Broken Parts: No visible broken parts.

Notes: Set on Roggio Arsenal lower which is too tight. You have to use a dowel to remove the pins. Del-ton lower parts kit with rounded hammer. No problem with 3 Black Dog mags

Pics next time.

Another range report with JP reduced power spring:

Make: TacSol M4

Round count: @ 200 rds Federal Bulk Pack and 200 rds Armscor 36 gn High velocity.

Malfunctions: Replaced the springs with JP power reduced springs and no more malfunction with the trigger. I do get misfires from the Federal from time to time and the strikes are just as deep as the good ones. I loaded the misfires again and some would go off on the second try and some on the third try. No misfires on the Armscor but some rounds would not push the bolt far enough to load the next round. I was told that Armscor ammo are not loaded consistently.

On my last 100 rounds of Armscor ammo everything went smoothly.

Broken Parts: No visible broken parts.

Notes: Set on Roggio Arsenal lower which is too tight. You have to use a dowel to remove the pins. Del-ton lower parts kit with rounded hammer and JP reduced power spring. No problem with 3 Black Dog mags.

Left rifle is 5.56/.223 postban Bushmaster barrel on TacSol A3 upper.

Rifle on right is .22LR TacSol barrel on postban Bushmaster A2 upper. Scope is Leupold 2-7 x 32. Roggio Arsenal Lower with Del-ton LPK with JP reduced power spring and DT A2 stock.

wow, vega did you just hit the range? its chilly down here in SJ! like upper 30's we got fog with slight snow flakes in the morning. May ulan pa minsan!

Anyway, ganda mahaba mo. When you say Bushmaster, you mean the real deal upper but you just stick in a Tacsol barrel? Mine too, I got a fair share of feed and ejection failures. I did used Remington on my first 200-300 so maybe that's why. I envy guys when they claim zero failures during break-ins. If my indoor range allow me to shoot the 22, I will attempt to zero that scope comes weekend.

I'm shorty so I might have problem with the fix stock and the scope height. :embarassed: kumusta pala accuracy? How far were you shooting? Nakalimutan mong isinama yung mga targets sa pictures.

OT. have you heard Tikka T3?

vega
12-15-2009, 22:17
Weather was nice when we went to the range.

That's a real deal Bushmaster barrel and A2 upper but I want an A3 on my Bushmaster barrel so I swapped the Tacsol upper. Tacsol is very accurate we were shooting the popper at 100 and 200 yds and you can hear the ping-ping-ping consistently.

I will invest in some Wolf ammo then I'll hit paper targets. I have yet to find which ammo will be accurate for the Tacsol.

Don't have any experience with Tikka rifles.
