I thought the Pontifical Swiss guard carried a Sig 225 pistol and Sig SG 550 like their Swiss military counterparts.
Well, at about minute 7:00 of that youtube video, the Italian ballistics expert spoke about the Sig225 extensively.
I don't know much Italian, but it is apparent that the video in question is about the murder of the head of the Swiss Guard in the Vatican back in 1999. It appears the ballistics expert in this video is describing the differences between the P225 and the G-19.
My italian is not good enough to know exactly what is being said most of the time, but a speculative guess is that the 225 is issued to most of the troops, while the special Vatican G-19 is issued to the higher-ups, who want ??? (a lighter pistol?) (who like/prefer Glocks?) (fill in your own blank here...)

I'm curious as to what the "A.G." next to the Vatican symbol;while I suspect the "G" stands for "guardia" or "gendarmerie" I have no idea about the "A".

Good question. I'm guessing it's the Italian-lang. abbreviation for "Pontifical Guard" or "Vatican Guard". Alternatively, it could also be German, Romanish, or French...

I perused the German language section of the Swis Guard website and came up with two possibilities:
"Ausrustung der Garde",or Equipment of the Guard/Guard Property
and:
"Administration der Garde",obvious translation.
Comments welcome,

Interesting, thanks for posting. Any ideas on rifles used by the Swiss Guards? I've also heard talk of the 550, but haven't seen much documentation.
I wonder if there are underground ranges in Vatican City...

Weird, I guess they are used by the Swiss guard. As far as I know they are still employed by the Vatican. Haha, still no where near as cool as Saddam's Golden AK :D

The Papal Swiss Guard in the Vatican was founded in 1506 and is the only Swiss Guard that still exists.

Somewhere in all of the stuff I read, I came across the idea that there were only three of these Glocks made with the Vatican engraving. IF they are out on the market, I'd guess they are incredibly rare. Obviously, the guy being interviewed in the youtube clip has one in his possession, but whether this was owned by him, or loaned to the speaker. If they are out on the market, they're probably in Italy and very expensive to get.
