I prefer Michael Plaxco's "Practical Shooting." My own opinion was that Burkett's book was rather thin in content and heavily oriented toward Open guns. Others may disagree, as the worth of a book depends on where one is at concerning knowledge and skills.

TO date I have found that Burkett is the best mechanics instructor around. The PSM is an excellant book with lots and lots of good info that applies to shooting in general as well as competition. If you not sure give Matt a call 480-949-1553

The book is very good. It applies to shooting in general!
Great instructor too.
Read that, and then go with Enos book.

After reading others' comments, I do recall that Burkett's book is where I learned the correct grip to use. Probably some other things, too. You should get it.
Matt's PSM is one of the best resources for improving your current skills. If you apply the principles Matt explains and "track" your progress, I think you'll agree.
I began shooting IPSC in the early 80's and have reviewed most of the books on the market. Matt's PSM is the most comprehensive. I don't think you will regret buying it. Like Hoss said, if in doubt, call Matt.

i have not yet read Matts book, though i have talked wit him several times on the phone. i bought Brian Enos' book though, uhhhhhhhhh, if you like tons of metaphors and having to think your way around what you think he might be trying to say, it might be for you. I wish Leatham would come out with a book.

Brian Enos' book is for a little later in the development cycle.

If Brian were here, he might say...
"thinking about shooting will help you learn not to think at all."
I still read BE's book and the PSM. Both have helped me immeasurably.

Trey;Q shooting is nothing and everything at the same time. Wait time doesn't exit its only something we made up so that we don't have enough and can complain.
Zen is easy. Either you have it and don't need it or you need it and can't get it.
If feel like I should change my sig line to "be in the moment where nothing exists." hehe
I am glad the books have helped you out. If I can ever help you out, give me a call.
Everyone have a Happy Holidays!

Bul, glad your enjoying the videos! We are working on a couple of new ones this month! Should turn out pretty cool. We have a 60 round stage being shot by Blake Miguez in 16 seconds and that was with a stock gun at the AZ 400!
Happy NEW YEAR to everyone!
