Was thinking of taking a mini vacation one of these weekends to getaway from my boring mundane life. Would be great to spend a weekend camping by myself and maybe do some hunting/fishing. Anyone have any suggestions of where this can be done in Florida?

Will for start, you have 1000s of places todo this in the state of Florida. Where are you going to , to be exact , would be helpful ?

Second, hunting follows set "seasons and dates" and more so on public land than private land. So what & where you expecting do all of this? You can't just show up, pull the rifle out of the bag and start hunting during your mini-vacation on one of these weekends get-a-way?

Great spots for camping in my area would be; Kissimmee state park, Kissimmee PUA, Fisheating creek, Okeeechobee Lakes and the various areas around it that allows for "camping", & finally much souther the Biscayne National Park.

Thanks Noway I'll go through those sites later today. Hunting isn't really a requirement it would have been a extra incentive to drive somewhere further.

I live in Miami but am willing to drive up to 4-6 hrs for a nice spot.

The purpose of the trip would be to get away from everything and everyone, I'm looking for some alone time to think about things, re-evaluate my goals for this year and the next few years. :dunno:

If your in Miami and want a close get away, try the BNP. You can be at that within 1-2 hours anywhere form Miami.

I've camp at Elliot key but be advise it can be noisy on the weekedn and crowd during any big weekend like this 4th ;)

I'm like you, I have to get away from SEFA drivers, rain, mosquitoes ( even tho they have mosquitoes every where ;) ) and head out to the country for some quieter enviroment with clean air. Kissimmee State Park or around the Istokpoga lake area. These areas are some of the best places to get away.

If don't want togo that far, and actually do hunting in a hunting zone with hunting season, try north WEST Palm beach JWcorbett WMA. You can camp, hunt , fish, hike and bond with wildlife.

You might see a hog or deer or two and even find a gator. Alot of snakes, alot of water and june thru nov, is full of mosquitos.

I have been going to this place for years. The people are very friendly there and it is not a rip off.
Also Big Eds Butcher shop is the best meat processor I have ever seen. he makes great sausages and everything comes in a supermarket like package.
