My friend and I just got a Marlin 795. It's an inexpensive .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle and I was pretty impressed with its performance. He has put in about 380 rounds in it with no failures. It is out of the box accurate, light and looks nice too. :wavey:

He put a bipod in it and a 12 x 40 scope with focal adjustment for distance and we can hit a soda cap (tansan) at 75 meters (82 yds).

I put a bipod and a 1 x 40 red dot scope on it and I'm pretty satisfied with mine. I don't think I can hit soda caps with it at 75 meters but I prefer the red dot because the rifle is semi-auto. Target acquisition is easier.

Stripping it is easy too.

MTHO, congrats on your 597 Remington. Caliber .22 LR ba o Magnum? I have a Remington 597 (with suppressor) but I'm selling it because I bought a Marlin 795 which I think is more light and handy. I bought my son a Henry Mini-Bolt and a Henry H001 lever action for myself. My son was hitting an 8"x11" target at 30 meters, and it was his first time ever to fire a gun.

I have to re-zero both rifles with match ammo because I'm not satisfied with the zero of the guns. It was windy and drizzling when I zeroed them, so you won't get the best out of the guns.

BTW, Remington 597s are getting to be popular. Ruger 10/22s are now selling here at $274.00 versus the 597's price of around $200.00.

Try Federal or American Eagle. I'm surprised with American Eagle's accuracy when I tried a friend's .22 lr prior to buying my rifles. They're cleaner-burning, too. Stay away from Remingtons. Super dirty ammo.

Madumi. Lalo na yung mga lead bullets nila like Cyclone and Thunderbolt. Parang pininturahan ng lead ang barrel ko. Hirap tanggalin. 5 oras ako naglilinis nun. Mas ok pa armscor basta hindi lead. Si Joji me .22 din na CZ. Naitatama din sa basyo ng .45 cal. Di namin sinubukan sa basyo ng .22 pero tatama din siguro.

bangit ba yung remington ammo?

Yes. Very dirty. Same with their centerfire ammo. I noticed it when I used Remington-UMC ammo on my CZ 75B SA. Pumuputik.

A friend who bought a Ruger 10/22 and used Remington ammo had a hard time cleaning the bore because of leading. Never experienced leading with Winchester ammo.

Marlin rifles are accurate because most of them have microgroove barrels.

Rated ba for use on spring guns yung scope at mounts sa Hatsan break-barrel mo? Spring guns need tough scopes that can handle the two-stage recoil, and scope mounts with studs (that mate to dimples on the receiver top) to prevent them from moving.

Di nga yata eh. Can't maintain zero with the Tasco scope that I mounted. Two stage nga ang recoil. Are you familiar with spring guns? Me nakakabit na Bushnell scope dati, nag-maintain ng zero hanggang sa lumuwag ang screws sa mounts. Balik ko na lang yun.

It is best to invest in a good scope and solid mounts with locking studs. If the Bushnell scope you have is rated fro spring guns, then just get good mounts.

Also it is not a good idea to use a bipod with spring guns as bipods absorb the vibrations upon firing and make the gun jump up. It is best to support a spring gun with your muscles as they absorb the vibrations. Even when shooting from a rest, you should put your arm over the rest and hold the gun instead of putting the gun directly on the rest.

Here's one of my spring guns, a Weihrauch HW77k (.22) underlever with a Leupold M8 scope on 1-piece Sportsmatch scope mounts.

YUP for me the Ruger Mark III or 22/45 is the best plinking pistol :) - I had one for a few months - and I couldn't say no to a friend who had the hots for it. Some day I will get another one.

I would love to get a Ruger pistol, CZ bolt and if it is as good as it looks the new ARMSCOR that is supposedly coming out this gunshow.

From the insider hints I got, it seems that this new rifle is going to be modular in construction - i.e. you can easily swap parts/components to change its configuration.

If that is so, I hope Armscor learned from the case of the Sig 250 and have those options available at the onset. It would be a pity if all the buyer gets is a rifle with a "promise and a hope" of interchangability.

Which reminds me... in addition to waiting for the reviews, I'll also wait for the options to appear on the shelves if they really are part of the attraction.

I'm not sure if the person who gave the hint was serious, but he implied that it would be in the same range as a Ruger 10/22.

I not sure whether I should hope he's wrong, or hope that the gun is worth it. Offhand I hope it's the latter so our Pinoy craftsmen get the respect they deserve.

The rifles looked like they could give the Ruger 10/22 a run for the money even at the same price point. I hope they work out ok and become available locally. Btw they also had a .22 pistol on display that looked like a cross between a 1911 and a Beretta.
