What mag extensions work best with glock mags? I shoot USPSA limited and need to max out on rounds in each mag.

hi...
taylor freelance magpads are the deal. the 140mm pads add +5 9mm or +4 .40

i used to shoot 15 rd. glock 22 mags with the 140 pads (total of 19 +1) for limited. let me know if you need a couple. i can get them fairly cheap. (they also make 170's which are +8 in .40! now that's ammo!!!)

dawson precision also have some available, but i've never played with them.

have fun!

I have used LS, Taylor, THE, Grams and Dawson.
I woudl rank them as follows

1 THE -easy to take apart, uses factory floorplate. New longer length comming very soon too.

1.5 Taylor -slightly harder to take apart but a great basepad - almost a tie.

3 Grams - easy to take apart and good quality

4 Dawson - easy to take apart, requires cutting your mag tube

5 LS - not worth owning, wrong angle and metal.

You have to be real careful with metal basepads as they have a nasty habit of tearing up your mag tubes.

I use Taylor Freelance +4's and Glockmeister +4's. Both work fine, with the Taylor being perhaps a bit more rugged. You might have to take the "sharp" edge off the bottom inside of your mag tube just a smidgeon to avoid the follower hanging up.

I found that on my G35 with the mag extensions installed I had to go back to the stock recoil spring to avoid nosediving. (I had been using a heavier spring.) Also, I could not get Fiocchi 180 gr ammo to work due to nosediving. Everything else fed fine. I use Montana Gold Bullet 180 gr. round nose/flat points to decrease the chances of a round hanging up.

Good luck.

I've used Taylor, Grams and Lightning Strike and find the Grams the easiest to install, remove, clean and load.

I have the LS, Grams and Dawson.

I have removed the LS from the mags. It was only a +2 if you did not modify the follower and was a pain in the butt to remove.

I have had feeding problems with the Grams (rounds nose diving into the front of the mag, follower tipping). The follower is reduced to almost nothing (for +5) and firmly secured to the spring. If you use a stock follower it is a +4. The plastic is not immune to gun scrubber (mine looks kind of ugly now).

I just received a Dawson. I did not cut off the locking bump, I relieved the extension. The relief on the other side of the extension had to be slightly enlarged also. The capacity is +5 with no mods to the spring or follower. It easier to remove than the Grams.

If the Dawson performs that will be my choice.

Been using Dawson's pads since last October and they have been perfect......easy to clean mags between stages and well made.......never had to modify or trim any mag bodies to use them..??...simply open the sliding cover, insert mag, squeeze bottom of mag body gently, and close cover.......no tools or prying necessary......

Matt - Noticed that you now carry the Arredondo Basepads for the Glock. Where do they fall in this list above?

I agree with everyone on the Taylors.

I would rank AA pads just a hair above the TF and a Hair below the THE. All 3 are almost a tie. I use and sell all 3 but mostly use THE pads. It really comes down to a dissasembly preference.

Grams is what I use. Plus 6 in 9mm and plus 5 in 40. In my mags I get 23 plus one. They are easy to take apart and have been 100% reliable in the past 50,000 rounds. If you have a problem call Bevin. He will fix it or refund your money. He is a first class guy and stands behind his product.

I have tried the new Dawsons (no longer necessary to cut the mags), Taylor, Grahams, and Arredondo. The Dawsons cause the mag lower lip to wear over time, the Taylors are a pain to get on and off, I have had two of the Grahams crack (upper sleeve) when dropped in a hard (concrete pad) berm partially loaded (but they replaced the part, no questions asked, great service), and no problems with the Arredondo.

None of those choices is all that bad, but if I were buying a new one tomorrow it would be the Arredondo. Its easy to get on and off for cleaning, does not seem to be capable of being broken so far (but time will tell)

Another vote for the Arredondo pads. I can actually get 21 in the mag and reload on a closed slide with two of them, but only 20 in another. Haven't checked yet but suspect the 20 rd mag has a different follower.

Arrendondo as well. Reliable so far and easy to disassemble. Like Joe D, I also have three Arredondo +5s and two of them will hold 21 rounds and can still be reloaded. While this is not the original intent nor my reason for using them, it is still pretty cool.
