I live in Bedford County--Hardy/Smith Mountain Lake-- just 20 minutes from downtown Roanoke. I am a GSSF & IDPA competitor. I'm a Certified Glock Armorer and do work for GlockTalk members at very reasonable rates.

Teabone23 -- I have been meaning to find out more about Kettlefoot... I used to think they were just an archery range, but I recently heard they have firearm ranges.

I usually go up to Norton at the parking lot above the reservoir up on High Knob. A lot of people go up there and shoot. It is not an official range, but shooting is allowed. I was shooting once and a Norton City cop rolled into the parking lot. We talked and all was cool. Some people called in after hearing gunshots (duh...probably from out of town hiking on the trails going around behind the reservoir) and he had to check it out. He was polite and just sat in his car while we talked. He said it was okay to shoot up there. I saw a concealed wepons class lined up shooting at temporary target stands one Saturday. There is no way to shoot any long range sighting in for rifles like people do prior to hunting, but it is great for handgun shooting.
