Beyond any words I can think of to describe it.
I see a lot of nice pistols. The finish on these must be much better than the Armory Kote finish I have on my Springfield. It has already been refinished one time since Nov of last year. I am not where I can post a pic now, but it is looking pretty rough since the end of May of this year. I carry it a lot, and it has many many shiny spots. I will probably just continue to wear it, then spray it myself when it gets to the point where you can't tell what color it is supposed to be. Probably next spring at this rate.

I feel your pain on the finish issue. I guess you get what you pay for. Here's pics of my EDC straight from the holster and complete with lint and rusty grip screws. Enjoy.

The crappy finish means nothing to me. Don't give a hoot what it looks like. The important thing is it runs flawlessly and is scary accurate even with me shooting it.

It started off as this several months ago, and I traded it off when it was completely stock.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii24/kraziekurtis/1911/1.jpg
The guy I traded it to did a lot of work on it himself and had it refinished and the edges taken down just enough to look and feel great. He was very kind to trade it back to me. I don't know how to express how thankful I am for him being so amazingly kind. :wow:

I'm brand new here on glocktalk, but I see I have a little in common with at least a few folks. My stainless Pre Series II Ultra Carry in some cheap generic slide . About the only changes I've made were to stick on the grips, dehorn the safety, and blue the barrel. The slide flats have been sanded out to an 800 grit finish to allow for easy refreshing since it sees a lot of wear & tear. It is dead reliable, scary easy to hit with and the frame finish has held up pretty well.http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/oo189/farkill1/042.jpg

Bac will have to answer obviously, but my quick recollection of his vast collection yields mostly steel framed full sized 1911's with a few commanders thrown in here or there. This would be one of his most "carryable" 1911's IIRC.
