Lousiana plans tax holiday on guns, hunting items
The Associated Press • August 22, 2009
BATON ROUGE, LA. — Louisiana will waive sales taxes on purchases of firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies Sept. 4 through Sept. 6.
The so-called “Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday” was authorized by the state Legislature and will become an annual event.
Supposedly (I'm not sure about this part), "hunting supplies" means tangible personal property for the use in hunting, including but not limited to archery, off-road vehicles, and vessels such as ATVs, airboats, and pirogues, accessories, animal feed, apparel, shoes, bags, float tubes, binoculars, tools, firearm and archery cases, firearm and archery accessories, range finders, knives, decoys, treestands, blinds, chairs, optics, hearing protection and enhancements, holsters, belts, slings and miscellaneous gear.
