Replacement for HP 937

My girlfriend had an HP 937 digital camera that she really liked. Unfortunately it seems to no longer be in her possession. Does anyone know a current camera that is comperable to this one?

It is almost scary how many compact cameras of similar capabilities you can find. How much would you like to pay? Name the upper limit.

I'd like to keep it in the $300 or less range. One of the things she liked about the 937 was the large LCD and the ability to edit the pictures.

I have never edited an image in-camera, so wouldn't even guess how it is accomplished (computer seems so much simpler), but there is an interesting pocketable, high quality camera with impressive zoom range (equivalent to 27-270mm in 35mm format) in the price range you mentioned that is supposed to be released this month.
