Please help make Congress and the Senate realize that their recent moves to enact stricter gun laws are ill-advised by signing the petition at this site:
http://www.petitiononline.com/noto6676/petition.html
Please pass this on to as many people as you can. Every signature helps!
Time is of the essence as the House Bill is being railroaded through Congress. If you feel inclined to sign the petition, please do so now.
Thanks!

Y'all realize that petition is about firearms legislation in the Philippines, right?

Yes, InBattery. The Band of Glockers subforum is primarily for Filipino firearm owners, but we'd appreciate all the support we could get on this important issue.

Carry on and good luck!
Bro BrassKnuckle I recieved this email today which states that.....
Dear Mr. ___:
The petition is flawed. The House Bill is in fact a first step towards
legislation of gun ownership. We urge you to read the House Bill
thoroughly and judge for yourself.
All the best,
Neri Dionisio
Could you check on this issue bro? Guy's what do you think? Do update us soon.. Thanks....

"The House Bill is in fact a first step towards
legislation of gun ownership"?
It is his words which are flawed. Does he mean "legalization"? Or "codification"?
As I mentioned earlier, my objections are already on record.
This e-mail shows that those rooting for this bill are checking the forums and keeping tabs on those who declared that they signed the petition...

It would have been more enlightening if Mr. Dionisio cited exactly which arguments of the petition are flawed and why.
Gun ownership in the Philippines is already covered by laws that have been around for many years, so I cannot see why he would claim that this new bill is the first step towards legislation of gun ownership.
Bro Darwin, I'd really like to know what the official AFAD stance on this bill is.

Nothing official yet bro. But the info I got jives with BrassKnucle's post with regards to email he supposedly got from Mr. Neri Dionisio.

I agree bro! That is why I asked for your opinion guys... Thanks for the info.

They could be right that the bill is the first step to firearms legislation. But we never got to find out because they railroaded it through the house committee hearing/s and did not even bother to explain their side, much less let us explain our side.
How can anyone claim that this is for the good when the manner in which it is being implemented is highly questionable?
We ARE NOT after stopping this bill just for the sake of stopping it. We just want to be heard in the congressional hearings because we have valid objections to provisions which we deem to be flawed.
Our exact words in the petition were:
"We in the Philippine shooting community, airsoft community, firearms industry, firearms NGO’s, as well as civil rights stalwarts would not want such haphazardly and poorly drafted Bills to pass on as legislation for the sake of expediency. We wish to assert our right to be heard."
Is that too much to ask? Who is being unreasonable here?
