Hi All

I'm new to this forum and currently live in Ohio. I have accepted a job in Lanett AL and will be relocating to the Auburn / Opelika area in the next 30 - 60 days. I currently have a Ohio CCW permit and would like to get my Alabama permit asap once I move to AL.

From what I've been able to find on the web it looks like Alabama is a "May Issue State" with permit approval being controlled by the county sheriff. Is it fairly easy to get your pistol permit in Lee County or should I be looking at houses in the Chambers county area?

Are there any forum members who live in that area who could advise me on a good school district (my son's a Sophomore) and / or gun ranges or shooting clubs in the area??

I live in Chambers Co area. (Lanett) But there is another member here that may be of more help than I.

cowboywannabe is a good guy and may be of better help.

There are a few members here from the Lee county Opelika/Auburn area as well. Wish that I could help more. Good Luck!

Question about gun ranges. There is a gun range in Phenix City about a 30 min drive from Lanett and/or the Lee county area. It's a members only deal I think. But It's a Very nice place.

Then there is a small gun range in Opelika simply called the Beauregard shooting range. It's a simple 25-30 yard outdoor range. It's inexpensive and fun.

hello from Lanett.

getting a Chambers county ccw is painless if youre a good guy....but you will be living in Lee county so you will have to apply there.

though Alabama is technically a "shall issue" state, there isnt one Sheriff that i know of that arbitrarily issues ccw permits only to "special people"...thats california or connecticut.....

i might also suggest that you look into living in Chambers county near the Lee county line by the interstate for a quick commute and lower housing costs....

what company are going to work for? there are two top grade private schools in Chambers county, one is in Lafayette (they say lafet) Chambers Academy, and Springwood is college prepitory in Lanett. Lee Scott is pretty good private school in Lee county also....

stay away from Lanett city schools, they are sub par and thats no understatement.

let me know if you need anything.

mossy has been here all his life i think, while i am originally from Ohio myself and have lived here for only 5 years.....though i know some influencial people that can get you fixed up in this area....especially if you make big bucks....
