Where, near the Chicagoland area, are some of you finding 9mm ammo at Walmarts? The one near me in Northlake, hasn't had any in a few months!

I need to go to the range for some practice, but I only have 200 rounds left and don't want to waste those!...:dunno:

I agree. Walmart hasn't had any in months. Megasports does and 9mm isn't outrageous.

My three local Wal-Marts usually have some combination of .45acp and .223 or even .40 S&W, but I rarely see 9mm. MegaSports in Plainfield and Gander Mountain are always stocked but their prices are a joke.

Gander wanted $69 for the 100 round box of WWB .45acp that Wal-mart gets for $35. MegaSports is almost as bad.

I just bought 100 rnd box of Winchester 9mm bulk ammo at Megasports for $24.99. At a shop in Aurora they wanted $33 for the same ammo. I can't seem to find anywhere that's selling for less than about $0.25 per round.

Complaints about Wally World being all out of 9mm are all over the Internet. :dunno:My son even works at the local store and I can't get an inside line on it.

$25 at Mega? That's fair. Maybe I should cruise over there and see what they want for the 100 rd box of WWB in .45acp.

Gander wanted almost $70 :steamed:

I think I'd feel better if someone pointed a gun at me while asking me to pay $69 for 100 rounds of WWB....at least then it's an honest robbery.

A Wal-Mart north of me had well over 2,000 rounds of .223 the other day. The had a little 357 sig, some 32 and 25, but nothing of interest to me such as 45acp.

I recently bought 250 rounds of Remington/UMC at Bass Pro in Bolingbrook for about $55.00. There are 5 boxes of 50 rounds each packed in a bright yellow outer box.

I've been meaning to go down to that newer Bass Pro, especially since someone gave me a giftcard recently!

Wow, that's a fair price for BPS. They're usually not quite so fair. But Gander Mtn is far, far worse.

The Wally World in Crystal Lake IL has 9mm intermittently, it usually gets there on a thur. night, or a Sun. night shipment.

The sporting goods dept folks don't even know when it's coming in for sure, as it varies, but it's always a PM shipment so it can be put out around 8:00 AM the following day.

A local Wal-mart today had a ton of 223, 40, and a bit of .45acp. Also a lot of large bore rifle.

I bought 300 rounds of Winchester WB 9mm at the Ottawa WalMart yesterday. The Plano WalMart has both Winchester WB and Blazer 9mm in stock.

I hope you all have been saving your brass so you can reload some day! Then this shortage/limited availability BS will mean MUCH MUCH less to you...

In the mean time, if you're looking for decent-sized amounts of ammo, like 500 rds or more, check out some on-line places like Georgia Arms. They have really great quality, reasonably-priced "blasting ammo." (They are a commercial loading outfit, so shortages sometimes don't effect them as badly as us, or at least not as suddenly.) Yes, you pay shipping, but I've found it's usually the same or less than the sales tax you pay locally...

If you're absolutely against the idea of reloading, you should check the surplus ammo dealers, like AIM surplus. They often get in shipments of surplus ammo that is non-reloadable, that they sell at a reasonable price.

Good luck out there. Too bad you're not down-state with me. Our ammo shelves are full once again.

Went to the Gunshow in New Berlin (outside Springfield) on Saturday, and there was some ammo there. I've been waiting for 6+ months for some Hornady Critical Defense ammo in 380 Auto for the LCP, and a dealer there had a case of it. Got two boxes, at near $1/rd, but at least it was there... My on-line sources and local gunshop haven't had it in a long time, or in some cases, at all...
