If that's only half your collection, you've got more HPs than I have 1911s. :)

sgtglock,
I ask the following with all respect and solely out of curiosity. I collect some things, and I think that I understand a bit about the collector's psychology. I presume from your comment that your 1973 BHP is unfired. Why do you keep this particular unfired BHP? Is it an investment matter, a collection matter, or some sentimental reason?
Please understand me: I make no judgments on your reasons, and you owe an explanation to no one. But you have got my attention on this.....
BTW -- taught in Dallas in the late 80s on a year-long interim contract replacing someone on sabbatical. Have many fond memories; I wish that I could have stayed.

I guess I have kept it that way as an investment. I bought it about 3 years ago from an elderly lady who's husband had passed and he bought it new and never fired it. I figured there are a ton of HP's that have been fired that I can buy when I get the notion to shoot one. I think the BHP is one of the best feeling most beautiful and classic pistol designs ever produced. I have given thought to shooting this one but just never brought myself to doing so.

Just curious, folks; why can't photos of these beautiful weapons be posted in the already existing thread, titled "Lets Start a Hi Power picture thread right here", which is Stickied at the top of this forum for just such a use? Is it something about requiring the word "Porn" in the title? If so, I can probably edit the older thread title... :whistling:

But why?

I guess because I shoot about 15K rounds each year for USPSA and I never have grabbed the Hi Power for a trip to the range. I will shoot it one day when I get a chance. I just figure if I am making time for the range then I should be honing my skills for competition. Once I am done practicing I am tired and ready to go home so I don't make time for shooting other guns.

I bought my first HP yesterday. It was made in Dec. of '02. It's used and when I got it home and really examined it I believe that it's never been fired. There are absolutely no marks of any kind, even on the barrel. It's standard and the blueing is flawless. One of the most beautiful guns I've ever owned or seen. I say this because now I don't want to fire it. It's so perfect that I think I'll simply put it in the safe and then search for an older, really used, HP. Is that crazy? I don't thinkg so.
