I had my G22 slide refinished (Cerakote) and when I got it back today, the channel liner slides out whenever I remove the firing pin.
Is this anything to be concerned about?:dunno: The liner HAD come out previously, but I don't recall it coming out this easily.
Whatch ya'll think?

Buy a new liner and give it a try. This is not an item that should freely move.

Make sure the beveled end is toward the pointy end of the gun.

OK, I just ordered a new one. I'll see how that works.
Thanks.:wavey:

Yes, definitely order a new one and get rid of the old one.

Is the gun OK to fire before the new liner gets here? The liner doesn't appear it can really go anywhere...:dunno:

Shove it back in, taper to the front, it won't go anywhere.

A new channel fixed the issue!:wavey:

For whatever it's worth/future reference, anytime the channel liner is removed (as the Cerakote folks apparently did) it should be replaced with a new liner.

JohnKSa,why should the channel liner be replaced if it comes out?

JohnKSa,why should the channel liner be replaced if it comes out?

The screw type puller usually damages the liner.

No screws have ever been used to pull it out, sometimes it comes out when the firing pin assembly(or striker assembly as it is sometimes called)is removed.

My comment was more oriented toward what should happen if it's actually intentionally removed. If it comes out on its own during disassembly that's a bit different. As long as it's in good condition and doesn't appear to be damaged I don't know that there's any harm in just pushing it back into place. It's a bit unusual that it keeps coming out though...

Thanks for clearing that up John.

the channel liner on my 2nd Gen 19 always comes out with the FP assy. I noticed that well over 1000 rounds ago.

If this is a personal defense pistol then I would replace the liner.
The liner should be held snuggly in the firing pin channel.
If this is a fun/target pistol then do whatever.
I believe personal defense pistols need to be maintained in pristine factory condition.

Liners are cheap, if one comes out I replace it. It's The Master Armorer Up Stairs's way of telling me it needed changing.
