I am mac guy, trying to help out my buddy. I have never messed with Vista, but his Laptop will not open any programs. Not even windows explorer will open. Just logged on my network and it is stuck on a spinning blue orb. Nothing will launch? Any help on what to do would be great!

What was he doing when the laptop started acting up?

I'd start the system in safe mode and scan it using Malewarebytes ...

... copy both to a USB drive and install, then update and do a full scan.
