I made a prototype of the Ruger 1911 in photoshop. Since we all know how much Ruger loves to put huge blocks of lawyer-ese on the barrels and slides of all of their guns, i tried to do the company proud.

Please read your manual because guns are really dangerous and we don't want anybody to get injured or killed, which you surely will if you don't read your manual. It's important to never load your firearm, fire your firearm, or even look directly at the firearm. Do not stare at your Ruger 1911. Ruger 1911s should not be handled by pregnant women, the elderly, or children. Discontinue use of your Ruger 1911 if you experience dizziness, vertigo, nausea, slurred speech, blindness, sweating, diarrhea, or heart palpitations. Please read your manual.

This is what happens when I get bored.

Too bad this is not just a funny joke. I've seen the entire owners manual written on their guns. A real turn off if you ask me.
I hate when they feel that they have to child proof the world.
We have become a society that bases things on the most ignorant and mentally challanged individuals.
Do not put cat in microwave.
Do not iron clothing while wearing them.
Pregnant women should not consume mass quantities of alcohol.
And the one we notice the least...
Smoking may be harmful to your health.
DUH!!!

Good eye. I just wanted something stainless with a lot of fancy crap hanging off it, but it occurred to me that a Taurus fit the bill exactly.

DUH!!!

Yeah. Mostly people are idiots. I guess I can't hold it against the company for protecting themselves, but it's a teensy bit silly, the lengths Ruger goes to.

Forgot about the part for the recall? :whistling:

It's on the other side under the ejection port.

The sad part is, when I opened the thread, I immediately thought "This is a real prototype" when I saw all the writing on the frame.

You forgot the GIANT loaded chamber indicator haphazardly cut into the side like the Mk III.

I think they got around that by deciding to offer a gun that originally only came with 7 rounds anyway. lol

That'd probably go on the other side too.

A photo of Ruger's upcoming 1911 has been leaked! Eagle-eyed reader Gros Ventre George spotted it on page 119 of Guns & Ammo's special edition magazine Combat Arms. It appears in an advertisement for Shooting Times magazine. The advertisement shows the cover of the upcoming June issue of Shooting Times with a photo of the Ruger 1911 and the title "Ruger's 1911 1,500 Rounds Fired".

The frame and slide are (obviously) stainless. The slide has a Ruger logo. It has black polymer grips with a ruger logo, beaver tail grip with 'memory bump', skeletonized hammer and trigger, fiber optic sights. What other features have I missed?

It looks comparable to the Remington 1911 R1 Enhanced which has an MSRP of $940. I expect the Ruger 1911 to retail for about the same.

Ruger is not going to be happy about this leak. The company routinely embargoes press releases to prevent leaks. Now a photo of the 1911 is probably in just about every Barnes & Noble store throughout the country!

Word on the street is that the pistol will be officially announced next week.
