I have two, one out the front and one out the side switchblades. Anyway I was talking to a lady that is apparently a csr and she told me that they had sold out to blackhawk and the knives would be made overseas now. She said they had only a few that MOD actually made here in the US so I figured I would share this.
One question though, how does MOD stack up against microtech & other switchblade/auto manufactureres?

I'd say honestly that MOD is right up there with ZT, and Microtech. As a matter of fact, the founder of Microtech actually started his work at MOD knives, believe it or not. I'll try to get references to confirm that info.

I love MOD Knives. Blackhawk dropped almost the whole MOD line, and only a few are still made. Blackhawk now makes the most popular ones as "Type E" models, over in Taiwan. The CQD Mark 1 Type E (made in Taiwan) is an absolute TANK, although not as much as a tank as the MOD CQD Mark 1.

Here are some of my MOD knives-

I had a scorpion neck knife that was wickedly designed and the 875 folder I had was good quality but I am getting out the tactical knives a bit these days.

I have two and they are a few years old. They have been around the world and have never let me down.

I used to own a MOD Lady Hawk.

Definitely one of the better made knives I've had. It did have a feel that would remind me of my Microtec, but I wouldn't go so far to say it was just as good as the MT. It had the thickest liner lock I've seen on a knife.

I have a CQD MK2 auto. I bought it from their shop when they used to be in Waynesville NC, near Asheville. It is a top rate knife. I also have one the the 675 series auto's. Granted, it was a lot less money, but it is not near the knife the CQD is.
