I picked up a new 20ga 870 this week and finally got a chance to fire it today. Right away I noticed the empty rounds were ejecting with much less strength than my 12ga versions. All rounds made it out but not very far, though live rounds seem to eject with good distance as usual.

It seems to be lacking the traditional ejector spring, with just a 'step' machined into what is normally the ejector housing. And the rivets are down tight against it so I doubt a spring--if one ever did exist there--has been broken off at the dealer.

I'm puzzled because parts diagrams list the same ejector spring for 12, 16, and 20 gauge. Part #F18855. It's the laminated youth version and I really like the compactness. Just wanted to make sure Remington didn't forget to put anything inside. :) Thanks!

Underside, with a more detailed view of the 'step', as I call it-

No ejector spring on these it seems.
