I am no expert but, when I reload .45 acp I put a slight crimp on the case mouth to reduce the bell and tighten everything up. Nothing like a .44 mag where I put a pretty deliberate crimp.
Anyway, anyone ever notice on Pow'RBalls or safety slugs how the mouth of the case seems like it needs a crimp?
I bought a 6 pack of Silver Safety Slugs last winter and I noticed that they became mauled quickly from cycling through my 1911. Just simple load/unload, nothing excessive.
I have had no problems with TAPs or Gold Dots. Everything remains nice and smooth, not nicks and gouges.
I bought a box of 165 grain .45 Auto+P Pow'RBalls a few minutes ago and they look the same way the safety slugs did new. It looks like the case mouth hangs way out off the bullet just waiting to be mucked up.
Never seen this with Corbon products, just Glaser.
These rounds advertise 550 Ft Lbs ME, which is very appealing. But, I'm a little wary of carrying them. I guess I'll just have to treat them with kid gloves.
