I have a 239 in 357 sig and was just curious if a 229 357 barrel will work. They look to have the same dimensions, so why not?

From the Sig Sauer web site:

P229 Barrel Length 3.9 in

P239 Barrel Length 3.6 in

Not only are the barrel lengths different, but since the guns themselves are completely different, the barrel locking lugs geometry is different.

Why not get a P239 .357 Sig barrel to put in your P239 pistol?

For your reference:

P220ST - P226ST - P229ST - P239TT - P232SL

Thanks for the info.

I know the length is different, that was the whole idea, to have an extra .3" sticking out from the front of the slide on my 357 Sig 239. I think it would look cool.

I was thinking of the evolution of sig models in the past, like the relation of the 225, 226, & 228, all off the 220. The 239 looked to me to be apparantly like a shortened and slimmed up 229, and both with an external extractor. I didn't want to buy a barrel to find out it won't fit.

I had a 226 9mm for about 9 years and just 2 years ago I aquired a nib used 220 45 and 239 in 357 sig real cheap. Well the guy said he fired 49 rounds through the 220, but the 239 was unfired. He had the barrel and slides hard chromed and put on Trijicons, both totaled $1230.

Check out GB. You can find almost anything for a Sig, including barrels. I bought a 226 9mm barrel, used for 29.95 in November. I would not change barrels out between model though.
