I am getting ready to size/deprime my first batch of .223. I have a brand new lube pad and purchased Lyman Case lube. I was told to hit the pad with a coat of lube before I actually used it then hit it again just proir to starting the batch. I coated the pad. I didn't realize how sticky this stuff was and am unsure of exactly how much lube I need on the cases before I started resizing them. Any suggestions, hints, tips would be greatly appreciated. I am using lee dies.

A little lube goes a very long way. Just put a couple dabs on your pad then smear it out along the rest of the pad.
Roll 5 or six cases across the pad at one time when you're lubing them.
Don't let the lube build up on the shoulder or you'll get shoulder dents when sizing.

+1 think of inking a stamp pad.
You can also try th RCBS lube die for .223...works rather well.

+1 If you do a lot of rifle rounds, that's the easiest, cleanest way. Even beats spraying them.
