adding a light rail?

i have looked into the Dawson Precision add on rails and have also priced new frames but is there a way to weld on a rail or weld up and machine a rail on a pistol to get it to not look like an addon? or have the holster restrictions like the DP and other similar rails?

Not really. The Dawson is the only rail that you can put on that will work with some regular leather and synthetic holsters. And there are quite a few holster makers for 1911's with DP rails.
