310NG Range Report [Archive]

Well I finally got to take my 310 Night Guard to the range today. I started out with Cor-Bon 135 gr JHP and the first couple of moon clips shot good. Those aren't that hot so recoil was managable accuracy at 7 yds seemed like it would be okay. Reloading could be better if Smith would bevel the cyl. holes (on all their revolvers!). Then 4 rounds into the 3rd clip the last round didn't exactly feel right. Completed freeze up!!! I figured it best not to force the action but the cylinder would release and swing out so I did that and looked for an issue. It appears that the hand is completely missing and from the looks of the smear on the face of the forcing cone the last round fired slightly out of time.The odd thing is the copper jacket on the face of the forcing cone is at the 12 o'clock position? I figure the hand must have broken and fell back into the action jamming it up almost solid. First real problem I've ever had with a Smith, guess I'll find out how good their customer service is.

I have had excellent service from them in the past, you should not have any problem. Sorry to hear about the trouble though, looking forward to a better range report.

Well my 310 is on it's way back to Smith. I wanted the gunsmith at the shop I bought it from to take a look at it and they volunteered to send it back to S&W for me. Most of the shop was at the Shot Show last week so I had to wait until today for them to look at it. I'm confident S&W will take care of the problem, time will tell. Hopefully I'll have it back in 7 to 10 days and I'll give a better range report. I hate having problems but nobodys quality is 100% (I know I work automotive :rofl: ). As long as Smith makes it right I'm happy.
