So am I missing something here? :dunno: I get home from the station this morning and log into to GT to check pm's, go to the for sale forum and there's like (6) TRP's for sale, and they're all SS to boot. Does anyone besides me find this odd? :dunno:

You have a bad night bro? WTF are you so pissy about?

You can't throw a rock without hitting a Glock. A glock is an affordable duty pistol.

A SA TRP is a semi-custom 1911 which if bought for full retail costs $1300+ depending where you go, and if you can find one. The SS models are harder to find and get an even higher premium.

So yeah when I see 6 TRP all in SS for sale one one forum it calls my attention. My local LE dealer only gets between 3-5 per YEAR.

Thanks for your input.

WTF Bro ? I'm not the one that's gettin' "pissy" ! All I'm sayin is what's the big deal ? Guns are bought sold and traded every single day.Semi custom guns too, not just "affordable duty guns".
Damn Dude ! Did I strike a nerve or what ? Got a raging case of "I shouldn't have sold my TRP" blues or what ? :faint:

That being said I have always had a good opinion of the TRP. Must just be a fluke of timing with so many being for sale.

Why so many pissing matches on the forum lately?! :dunno:

Here's my take on the Springers

Many were possibly bought when the "ban craze" was in full swing.
Economy sux now, worse than before. Many may now be faced with
financial problems and need money.

Or they saw the light and are selling to buy an Ed Brown!

Why can't we all just get along :tongueout:

I sold my S & W 1911 Target before Christmas for Bills and Christmas :crying:

Great Gun, never a problem

I now want either a TRP or Kimber Tactial Custom II HD (Steel Frame)

Night Sights, Ambi Safety (Lefty), 5" Gov't Model, Front Strap Checkering...

To hijack this thread...........:wavey:

Which would you choose, or something in this price range.

I do not have extra money to add to it to get this or that,

Serious responses, please.

I was pretty stunned by the coincidental listing of 6 TRPs also. Wondered if there was a mass flaw unknown to most of us on what I've thought to be a fine weapon. Not perfect.

The one thing that actually keeps a lot of genuinely informed people from participating here is a lack of civility among the members.
That's why I don't post/participate often. I have zero patience for rude.

hey bac, I wanted your opinion since we're talking about TRP's. I think I want another 1911, and was wondering which 1911 would you prefer between the TRP and an Sti Trojan (I always see you recommend the trojan for best 1k dollar 1911, but you also recommend the TRP alot also, and it's slightly over 1k).

txgolfer45
01-24-2010, 15:02
Gdirty5,

I own both. My STI Trojan is in 9mm and my TRP is the SS model. They are really two different 1911's. The Trojan is set up with adjustable rear target sight and STI competition front post sight and slim wood grips. The TRP has combat night sights, 20 lpi front strap checkering, and a magwell. The STI Trojan is set up more as an IDPA competition gun with a 2 lb trigger while the TRP is set up as a carry/HD gun with a 4 - 5 lb trigger.

Both are very accurate and reliable. They just are set up for different purposes. I love them both. A better comparison to the TRP would be the STI Lawman. A better comparison to the STI Trojan would be a SA Target Loaded. I'd pick the Trojan over the SA Target Loaded and the TRP over the Lawman.

Two different guns.

The Trojan is more of a target model with a different feature set than the TRP. I do feel the STI is smoother, but its hard to pick it over the TRP.

Here's my take...the TRP has always been a good gun at the bottom of the upper tier of 1911's. Times are getting tough. Folks who stretched to buy a TRP are dumping their best return gun. Folks who have a TRP but are invested in Browns and Wilsons are dumping the bottom of their inventory. Either way, a mid-range gun is the first to flood the sales floor.

I just bought a Springfield 45 1911 TRP SS 2 weeks ago.

150 rounds though it so far. Breaking in nicely.

Nice trigger & SS finish.

I like the Ambi safety. I'm a lefty.

The checkering feels perfect.

I took advantage of the TRP liquidation here on GT and bought from a fellow member a week ago. I love it so far. Not the first 1911 that I have shot, but the first one that I have owned. The most accurate gun I have shot so far(including a nighthawk GRP). This is coming from a recoil sensative 9mm shooter! I already want more. What kind of work can I have done to make the TRP more comparable to the PRO? I thought maybe a barrel/bushing upgrade and fitting, and maybe some ignition work.

I sold my SS TRP not for other reason than I can't keep up with the price of ammo any more, it was a great 1911 with 0 problems. the one thing I never warm up to was the billboard and the forward serrations.

The cost of ammo was my guess. It seems to me there are a large number of 45 autos for sale of every type. The fact that there are several TRPs here is probably just coincidence.
