I've just started reloading for the 400 cor bon barrel out of my g30. I've shot over 200 rounds of published loading data without problems. All the data for this caliber is with med/slow burning powder though. I'm looking for a soft shooting accurate load with a faster powder. The powders I've used with this round are unique,wsf,h6,powderpistol,and #9. I've got 231 and 700x but theres no data:dunno:. IMR data in 45auto for 700x using a 155gr lead bulet with oal 1.230 is 5.4-6.0. In 400cor bon I'll be using 155gr berry plated with an oal of 1.260. Does anyone think it is unsafe to compare these two calibers like this and use 5.4 as a starting point or go lower to maybe 5gr and check for functioning. Its amazing how accurate these berry bullets are. But then again I havent shot any plated or softer lead bullets before.

Just got back from the range. 5.4gr is accurate but I wont go any lower with an OAL at 1.260. VERY soft shooting, but functioned the G30. I think I'll stick with this loading for target. Although I might have to go 5.5 or 5.6 with jacketed.

I have used 155 gr to 180 gr. jackted or plated bullets with either American Select or WST for mild loads at ca 725 to775 fps - real soft shooters. I use them in a S&W 646 revolver and an STI Trojan in 40 S&W with a lighter recoil spring. Years ago I did use lead bullets in the same bullet weights with the same powders.
The alliant 2005 manual had data for American Selct and the W-W 14th Edition manual had data for WST. If you want me to e-mai you a copy PM me with your adress.
