Does anyone know where I can find HST ammo for my Glock 19? How effective is this round? My wife wanted me to get a box or two of the best 9mm self-defense round available, and I heard HST was the ticket.

I was in a gun store last week that had a shelf full of 9mm 147gr HST.

But it was $85 a box. :faint:

$85?? r u sure it wasn't $35?

If it was $85, I would have definitely had a long talk with the manager before I left.:shakehead:

HST is on big time back order, if you find any reasonable buy it. HST, Ranger T, PDX1, Gold Dot, Golden Saber in 124/147 is all good ammo.

Streicher's carries it, and you can order some today if you want. But, it's currently backordered and there's no telling how many months you'll have to wait for it.

Check with TDS or Ammotogo. They both get it in periodically, but it doesn't last long when they do. So you'll have to check frequently.

It was $85.00. I asked the guy behind the counter if the price was correct.

He said it was.

Federal Hydra-Shoks were $65.00 a box and Winchester .380's were $40 a box.

I just took delivery of some 147gr Federal Hydra-Shoks from ammunitiontogo.com. They are not +P, but they are pretty reasonably priced at $25.95/50 rounds. I intend to decide btwn them and 115gr +P Corbon's for my carry ammo, next time I go to the range.

Here's a good video of the 147gr HS in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpO5kPuQYrA

He doesn't want 147gr HST. He want 147gr +P HST.. or 124gr +P HST.

The ammo supply has become ridiculous. I was told this last year by someone who was standing in line behind me at a gun show in the spring. He said that by the end of June, ammo would be hard to find. Think he knew something??

We are starting the sixth year of the LE ammo shortage. There has been sporadic reports in the news but most people ignored it since there was no shortage in the commercial supply, until late last year anyway.

It was just on a whim that I went in there anyway. It will be my last.

I stopped in there just on the chance I could find a 2nd gen G19, but no luck.

That guy is usually high anyway. I did see a 2nd gen G22 (I'm sure it was a police trade-in.), and he wanted $495 for it. I'll pass.

You mean harder to find than it has been since late 08?

Just remember with Streichers they charge you up front for backorders, and then you wait and wait and wait and wait and wait for it to ship. My current backorder for 230gn HST is coming up on almost a year wait now, it is unbelievable, and who knows how much longer it will be.

ATK says they are going to have " erratic deliveries" of Federal, Speer, CCI products for the next 36 months.

Barclays Capital is projecting copper prices for 2010 will rise 34% over 2009 prices. We all know that means the days of cheap ammo are numbered.

Remington has already announced a 4% price increase this Spring. The other mfg are sure to follow.

I placed an order for HSTs almost a month ago (won't say where). I'm not expecting it anytime soon. .40 seems to be much easier to find. Gunbroker has plenty of listings for .40 HSTs but none for 9mm.

Just ordered some PDX1 but it's on backorder too. Gold Dots seem to be somewhat easier to find but I can't find the 124 +P in 50 rd. boxes.

I have not had any of the GD 9mm 124+P in stock in nearly a year. 40 not being as popular as 9 and 45 can be found easier most times. PDX1 9mm and 380 are still hard to come by.
