S&W 610, 4" barrel

Took it out and it shoots to point of aim and is a tack driver. Now I need to shoot some 40 S&W through it and see how that goes, though from what I've heard, accuracy should be the same.

Why 10mm? Well, I have a number of autos in that caliber, and I like to reload it. It's very versatile. And since the 610 shoots both calibers, it's even more versatile.

Trigger action is decent, but needs to be better. DA pull is a little much for my taste, also.

How do you get the empties out of the moon clips easily?

So far have just shot with the factory moonclips which are the split-type and do it by hand. That's not going to fly, and I'm sure the solid designs are tougher to deal with. I'll need to get a tool. Here's an interesting looking one:

Or buy Rimz--they are plastic and easy on fingers.

I love my 610, I am sure you will too. I shoot some 40 through mine, but I mostly enjoy shooting 10s. And with reloading I have run some pretty hot 10s through the 610.

Even with the heavy loads, the 610 is an easy gun to shoot.

Speaking of hot loads, I've read a number of people that have had the cylinders bored out to accept the 10mm Magnum. Other than length, it's exactly the same dimensions. I've heard there's no affect on accuracy for 10mm and 40 S&W being shot out of one bored for 10mm Magnum.

Reed's loads 10mm Magnum:

10mm Magnum 180g Remington Golden Saber 1690FPS

That would be, um, "interesting". :)

I've shot DTs 135gr Noslers @ 1600 out of one of my autos and that has quite a loud bark. I can't imagine what the Magnum would be like.

You will love the 610 and reloading for the 610 and the auto's will really save some dollars. I just loaded 500 of 180 gr JHP that I bought last year for $43 delivered. I got them mainly for training with my G-29 and not so much for the 610 which I mainly use with hard cast lead. I some times think the HC L/SWCHP is a better load for home defense or none LEO use. A 180 gr HC at about 1100 FPS hit real hard and penetrates deep. The G-29 loves them, and makes for easy head shots at 15 yards and out to 25 yards great center mast shooting.

Speaking of lead, I get no lead build up in the Glock and very little with the 610-3 6", but I shoot lot more lead in the 610-3 just because I don't like all the bending to pick up brass. I haven't shot lead in the 610 5" yet, just 12 rounds is all thats been fired in the no dash. Yes I have a basically unfired 610 5" in the gun vault. I plan on trying to put an end to that this year.
