Would a magpul AFG be legal on a pistol ar? It is not a vertical fore grip, or is it just to close?

I would say no,.....it's still a forward grip that extends downward from
the rail.

Your call,...I would not risk it!

KAC makes a hand stop that doubles as a sling swivel mount.

Glaze, I strongly recommend you contact the ATF to find out the answer to this question. If they say it is ok, I would ask for a letter stating so.

A pistol is defined as made to be fired with one hand, or hands in the same place. An AFG would make a pistol an AOW.

what about the wooden forearm on the browning buckmark, or the shnabel style forearms on remington x100 pistols, or the forearms on the tc contender pistols.

i understand how the magpul afg would be illegal since it extends downwards away from the forearm, but there are plenty of handguns with forearms so the above definition of "a pistol" dosen't seem quite right.

I'm going by the ATF definition.
It is a fore grip, and therefore, not allowed.

Right... that AFG increases the power of the ammo and makes it more lethal so we must keep that out of citizen's hands. Egads... scary evil foregrips!

sounds good. I dont think i am willing to chance it by any means, just not worth the hassle!!!

I wouldn't risk it no matter what the numb skulls at ATF tell you. It is not worth risking getting to know your new cellmate in a biblical way over what ATF says.

Trust me the people that know the least about guns and gun laws are ATF agents.

this ^

if they would have chosen a different name - it would work
but only b/c of a technicality

I strongly recommend against doing this. When the ATF issues these letters, they are usually not consistent and it drags up a bunch of new crap every time.

You do have a point.

In all honesty it seems to be too much of a hassle to worry about.

I'd say no.

Of coarse it is illegal.
