So I had this great idea. I bought a one point sling and a VLTOR one point sling plate. I thought, "Man wouldn't that be great to have a one point sling?" Turns out after spending the money and time installing the part, it is right in the way of the charging handle! I guess that is why Magpul invented the ASAP plate and MS2.

Great company, great products. No rattling loop of the ASP when you don't want it, just a clean "factory" install.

ETA: Please explain how the VLTOR is in the way of your CH?

I went a whole different route.

First off, do you have a railed forend? That will make a difference in my suggestion. If so, keep reading....

I have a Daniel Defense QD sling mount under my buffer tube, same spot your VLTOR or the ASAP would go behind the castle nut. On the railed forend, I have a built in QD spot, but this is something you can purchase if you have stock handguards. Now, you have your gun set up for 1 point/2 point sling options. Next, buy a Magpul sling, or a vickers, whichever suits your fancy. Both of these slings can be quickly and effectively changed from 1 point to 2point in a matter of a second.

Now you have a proper and clean set up that both works, and looks great!

All can be had from bravo company right now for very good prices.

One of these ..... http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Magpul-MS2-Multi-Mission-Sling-System-fde-p/mag501%20ms2%20fde.htm

Two of these.... http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/VLTOR-QD-Sling-Swivel-HD-p/sling%20swivel%20qd%20hd%20vltor.htm

or maybe just one of those ^^^^^, and one of these..... http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Midwest-Industries-MCTAR-08-p/mctar-08.htm

and one of these to pull it all together..... http://www.danieldefense.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=78

Hope that helps! So far I love my setup, quick, clean and efficient.

???????

It's shaped like the end of the reciever, so I know you can't have it upside down...

Perhaps I can clarify. It seems like the sling impedes immediate action. SPORTS. Pulling the charging handle with your right hand (I shoot right handed) it is ok. My index finger brushes the sling.
Holding the rifle in a firing grip while pulling the charging handle with your left hand is very difficult. The sling is right in the way. Using a technique that requires the operator only to pull on the left side of the charging handle is almost impossible due to the sling being directly in the path of the left hand. Sorry I do not have a camera or I would include pics.

I took a similar approach as HLP but with a few different components. I think it works pretty well and I've gone through quite a few sling set ups trying to find something I was happy with. I added the Tango Down clamp on QD mount which mounts on the buffer tube right behind the castle nut (side note: adds another layer of stopping the castle nut from ever backing off). It has a socket on the left, right, and one in back. My SOPMOD stock also has QD sockets on both sides. My MRP upper has 2 sockets on either side. I got a VTAC sling with QD's on it and now I can go to pretty much whatever set-up I want in seconds. Both QD's can go on the Tango Down mount for a nice single point set-up or I can spread them out to just about any 2 point configuration you can think of. I like the VTAC because of the pad and the adjuster. I like the single point for shooting, transitions and baricades, I like the 2 point for standing around at the range, carrying a load, going hands on with people, etc. Now I've got the best of both worlds. I do like the ASP/MS2 combo, I just don't like the adjuster on the MS2 and I think that with having a SOPMOD and MRP, I may as well just use QD's as they are usefull all up and down the rifle-Norcal911

No railed fore end. MOE hand guards, MOE stock, regular fixed front sight assembly and pinned sling mount.
