Hey guys,

So, I petitioned to my local lodge about 4-5 months ago and just underwent the petitions committee and they will be submitting my report for a vote next meeting. The WM told me and the other 2 petitioners that it should not be too long now, I've been waiting for a while!

When they say its a long process they weren't kidding!

Regardless, I am hoping that I am voted favorably upon and am allowed to be initiated to the fraternity. I have been waiting quite some time for this, but I figure whats another month or two when you've already waited four. Plus, the wait is not that bad for something that lasts a lifetime.

Wish me luck!

Congrats. It is a journey, not an event. The wait is worth it.

Minor update:

At the last meeting I was presented as a petitioner and asked to stand up before everyone with the 2 other young petitioners. This happened directly after they handed out 3 60 year awards (2 living, 1 posthumous,) and numerous 50 year awards. I was astonished to see such commitment from men and the feeling I got when I was able to stand up as one of 3 petitioners in a room of 60 sitting masons was indescribable. One of the 60 year members who was presented with an award,I was told, also happened to be a past master of the state of Florida. I really cannot put my feelings into words at how impressed I was.

Also, last year's WM (who also happened to be the first mason I contacted, via email from the lodge's website) visited me at my home and we discussed masonry and had a very good time. I was expecting an interview and it was not what i was expecting, much more friendly and less interrogative than I ever imagined.

I will keep you guys updated, I am awaiting a letter from the lodge that will officially determine my future status.

Thank you.

Update:

Met the GM of Florida and some of his officers about a month ago. They were honoring the Grand Historian, who happens to be a member at the other lodge in Gainesville. It was very cool, Florida is such a big state and I never thought I'd meet the GM within the first year of my travels.

I'm set for April 21st EA proficiency/FC degree. I'll keep you guys updated.

congrats!! hopefully they weren't too rough on you. glad to see they are putting you to work so soon. i have seen too many people come in since i joined and not take the time to learn anything more than necessary in and out. i studied my tail off so i could take a chair from a man that has been a member for years during degree work. just study like a mad man.
