I guess it can be debated that this should even be in the 1911 forum, but I guess it is close enough. I don't know why, but I have really been thinking about buying a SpecOps 9. I am a little hesitant on a couple things, though. Number one, I would really like to actually see one in person before I drop that kind of money on a polymer framed pistol. Number two, it seems the price point is a little high, which is certainly debateable, as well. I do, however, like the idea of a lightweight, hi-capacity 1911 based pistol for ccw purposes. I know, I know....A G19 will do the same thing for a hell of a lot less money than the SO9, but I really like the 1911 design and SA trigger. Does anyone have any hands on experience and opinions one way or the other on this pistol? I would love to hear some actual feedback on the pistol other than the price is too high or the name sucks (which I agree with).

I also am curious about the Wilson Spec Ops 9.

The only polymer I spent that kind of money on was the HK Mark 23.

That is a super weapon (especially with a suppressor), but not really apples to apples with the Wilson. The HK is a superior weapon with an ACTUAL SpecOps resume. :)

And really friggin heavy, so Heavy in fact that many guys that havea use for them have left it out of their Kit and gone to the regular USP with a threaded barrel or the tactical.

But the Mk23 is an awesome pistol when the KA supressor is used.

For polymer hi-cap 9mm I will gladly buy another Glock and many cases of ammo. I like Wilson 1911's but this is not for me.

I already have both those covered. I have enough Glocks, just looking for input on the SpecOps 9.

Never said it was an apples to apples comparison, however, any Wilson I buy will be a 1911. :tongueout:

it's an intriguing option but I am withholding too much judgment until I see one in person

Well, I took a serious leap of faith and bought a SpecOps 9 today. It should be here the end of this week/beginning of next week. I have found very little actual feedback from any owners...just the standard opinions of the pistol both positive and negative from people that have never held one in their hand. I will be sure to post my impressions one way or the other when it lands. Should be interesting. And no.......I did not pay anywhere close to retail.

I don't think the gun has been out long enough for many of them to be in the heads of consumers for anyone to really have an opinion. They just introduced it last year didn't they?

I wouldn't worry, Wilson makes good stuff.

Congrats...I look forward to hearing about your experience. I noticed a couple of used ones showing up on some forums and they were getting close to the range I would pay for one without more experience with them.

Hopefully you will be able to provide us with some solid feedback and review.

Well, the first negative about the Spec Ops 9 was realized today. Extra mags are pretty much impossible to come by. I ordered spare mags from Wilson and received an email telling me they were backordered for 6-8 weeks. It kind of makes one wonder how they get the pistols out the door if they cannot even get magazines for them. I damn sure hope the pistol comes with at least two mags or I am gonna be a little disappointed. I won't carry it if I don't have at least one spare mag. Anybody have any ideas where I can scrounge up an extra KZ-9 mag or two?

Well I've been looking at it to the point I googled Burns, TN to see how far I'd have to drive to shoot one:rofl:....not to worry....too far....

How much were the mags?

$40 each....You would think they would want to have them in stock if they are serious about this Spec Ops 9 program getting off the ground.

I picked up my new Spec Ops 9 this morning and ran a couple quick mags through it. My initial feedback on this pistol is nothing but positive. I was a little apprehensive as to a couple aspects of this pistol, one of which was the price point for a polymer framed pistol. The Spec Ops is a shooter. The picture below was the first mag I shot out of the pistol. It took a couple shots to get the feel for the pistol, but after that, I began to get much more comfortable. I was shooting from about 10-12 yards and fairly rapid as it was starting to rain. For those wondering about holsters for this pistol, I can say that it fits just fine in my Nossar IWB III, Brommeland MaxCon V Commander and my Alessi Undercover Commander. I want to shoot some more with this, but so far I have no buyers remorse with this pistol and it is a whole lot lighter than a steel framed Gov't that I have been carrying. At this price point, it is certainly not for everybody, but for those that can, so far, I give it a thumbs up!! I will update when I get a chance to get out and give this thing a full, hard workout.

Is that the right test target?

Yes it is. The .45 load info is crossed out and the 124g XTP-HP 9mm ammo info is hand written off to the side. It is cut off of the picture, but it is the test target dated Nov. 09. Here is a better picture with most of the info.

If they made a full size with a rail I'd be out another 2k.
