Just read yourself per this idiot.

http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=78337&page=1&pp=10

Just read the whole thread. But I will copy the biggest idiot statement.

"O.k. first of all lets start with the basics on this one. Kimber barrels are MIM (metal injection molded) GASP!!!, as are their frames, slides and all small parts (which do occasionally have to be replaced due to failure). How do I know this you ask...well a friend of mine owns one of the leading barrel making companies in the business and he bought a kimber, "Cause it just seemed so nice Joe", and upon inspection he found it was MIM. Can't fool a custom barrel maker folks.
Joe Chambers
Custom 1911 Pistolsmith

I tried to refute this moron but the site management has deleted or edited my posts and warned me to stop questioning Joe Chambers statements.

And as anyone that knows me can tell you I have very little respect for Kimbers and am not a blind Kimber cheerleader...but this is incredible.

Everyone, I accidentally started two threads on this because of a faulty internet service. The other one has more posts. Please let this one die.
Here is the link to the current one.

Probably why I spent 26 years as a Regular Army Officer rather than as a Naval Officer - we spoke to our troops - not down to them.

I'll consider myself reprimanded - at least the internet equivalent of a Captain's Mast - and go forward and sin no more.

Wilson's response to Joe's statement

Funny thing about that dcsans...I never said they had always had MIM slides, barrels and frames, as well as all small parts...I said they currently do. As a matter of fact, the maker of their parts is Bul out of Israel if you really want to get down to the tacks of the matter. I also said I owned a Kimber...I bought it in 1998...it was forged.

Yes, they used to provide Wilson. (Now Wilson gets theirs from a South Korean company called pointtech, same as brown and nighthawk and many other companies.) The new Kimbers are not forged, unfortunatly. Now I'm done discussing this on a thread about barrel chambers. If you wish to discuss it further you may pm me and I will get back to you at my leisure.

Sincerely,

Now his claims are Kimber's barrels are not MIM and WC doesn't get frames and slides from South Korea. But he is stating that he contacted Kimber directly and the slides and frames are made of "castings" per a Kimber employee. But he is still saying, per his expert friend, that Kimber slides and frames are MIM.
