Gun Ban in King, NC

I heard the talking heads on WRDU 106.1 talking about this during my drive into work. Couldn't help thinking about THX's earlier "State of Emergency" post.

Alcohol Restrictions, Curfew Lifted In King
Police Chief: King Remains Under State Of Emergency Until Monday KING, N.C. -- Authorities lifted a curfew and alcohol restrictions in King on Sunday, but said a state of emergency declaration remained in effect until Monday. Authorities said the state of emergency declaration would continue until Monday 9 a.m., barring any unforeseen circumstances or severe changes. Effective Sunday afternoon, alcohol restrictions and a curfew were lifted. All other remaining restrictions would continue until Monday, said Paula May, King police chief. Other restrictions include a ban on the sale or purchase of any type of firearm, ammunition, explosive or any possession of such items off a person's own premises. Also on Sunday, the emergency shelter established by the American red Cross at West Stokes High School was closed. "We appreciate the support and cooperation of everyone with our efforts to keep the citizens of King safe," May said. The state of emergency was declared Friday due to severe weather.

Thought only a Governor could declare "a state of emergency"

This is exactly why one should not hesitate to become "fully armed and prepared". That means owing the guns you want or need, more ammo than simply a sufficient supply or whether Wal Mart has your brand in stock so you don't have to pay a few dollars more and, lastly, knowing how to use your firearms effectively. You will feel really stupid when such an "emergency" is declared in the US and as we all know, only the criminals will be well-armed.
Call me an alarmist or a right wing extremist but we have an avowed Socialist playing emperor of the USA and he's manning his bureaus with radicals who sincerely want to change the US into some sort of socialist/communist country with them firmly in charge. We have the highest levels of our government courting disaster on a grand scale. "Change you can believe in." Change he wants only happens with a revolution or some sort of social upheaval. If it doesn't happen before 2012, Obama will see to it that he makes it happen.

i don't know about all the sky is falling hype but i really don't understand this rule during a state of emergency. the whole reason behind getting a ccw license is to ensure as best as possible that the people who have a ccw is a law abiding person with a certain level of training and education. the bgs have and will continue to be armed so this rule/law is only hurting the very people it's trying to protect.
